“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.” – Douglas Adams

A Short Life, Bursting with Creativity

Professional Bio from Model Mayhem

Discovering his passion for fire and dance in 2009, Victor Psybotik began mastering the dangerous element of fire. Overcoming physical and mental boundaries he creates a form of living art through his dance. Using dark erotic movements and the thrill of taking a crowd on a roller coaster ride of emotions with his unique and unforgettable style he provides a performance that hypnotizes crowds. His style being described as futuristic, cosmic and fierce express his vision as a performer. His passion for the art radiates in his performances leaving everyone mesmerized.

He became a resident fire performer at Webster Hall NYC in 2010. In 2012, his hard work and dedication got him promoted to Senior Fire performer and now all fire performances for Webster Hall are produced, styled and choreographed by him for creative director Shane Savant. He is also Senior Fire performer for Flambeaux Fire LLC, which is owned by Chris Flambeaux and Abbey Hertz. Flambeaux Fire being his mentors through his career, they have been a great influence on his success. Friends Remember Victor

Fuck no. This one hurts. Victor Escobar, I remember when you were a fire spinning party baby and I was trying to help you get gigs so you could find your own way in this harsh and crazy world. I was so proud to see you advance in the fire arts as you filled out and fully became an adult, growing up and sending me gig recommendations in turn. I’m heartbroken that you were taken by a tragic sports/traffic (rollerblading) related accident, and are gone before your time!

Ian and I remember him dancing on the hill in the Pine Barrens. He told me that watching me spin fire poi got him interested in learning fire arts. But I’ll always remember him on the hill, in the moonlight, dancing in the Pines

Rest in peace Victor. My heart is broken yet again, and I’m in disbelief that such a dynamic and talented individual can be taken from this earth in a flash, senselessly. You were inspiring, unique, and full of love. You had a level of confidence that I will never be able to match. I’ll never forget the times we had, like when you fell asleep on my shoulder on the chill out couch at one of our many psytrance parties, and felt honored that you trusted me enough to do that. You were always supportive and caring, outgoing and hilarious; no event was complete without you, and every gathering was better with you there. I will fucking miss your irreplaceable energy. I love you bro. You were a fucking beautiful human being. You were fire. Fire lived in you. I’m so sorry 😞

I dug through the archives to find some of my favorite shots of Victor Escobar. He performed with Psybotik from 2009-2012, and was obviously incredibly talented. He brought the brightest, happiest, and most fun energy to share with everyone around him. You can see the vibes in these photos. He was always extremely supportive of his friends and often made me feel like a total rockstar of a DJ.

I also ended up finding our first ever communication which led me down a world of good memories including a story I’d like to share. Many of you may have heard this in some form before…it was an email he sent to the Blue Goddess (Erica Blue) that got forwarded to me. He was letting us know how much fun he’d had at the last event. He also completely shamelessly asked if we would throw a party for his friend’s birthday a few weeks later…For those that know the effort that goes into a psytrance / burner party know this is no small ask.

I very politely responded, thanking him for reaching out and supporting our events, and explained that our crew was very small…it was a labor of love, we all had day jobs and only do parties every few months, etc…He completely understood, and even volunteered at the next event with his friends who all helped with the door and coat check. I think it only took a few months before he was spinning fire with Masae Cathy Satouchi and Erin Williams and absolutely crushing it. He was a natural performer and elevated the excitement through the entire party every time he’d light up. If you were there, you know what I mean.

When we stopped throwing parties in 2012, Victor was the one that kept using our crew’s name. If I ever mentioned Psybotik out at the new burner parties at the time, most people would say “oh you mean like Victor Psybotik?!” That always plastered a smile across my face. I was so impressed to see all the gigs he got as a performer and model over the years.

I will always try to embody that energy you shared with those around you, and the confidence it took to reach out to practical strangers to throw your friend a birthday party. I’m so glad you did. I love you brother, safe travels wherever you go.
