Big Boom!” It starts slowly but picks up speed within a few years, dying almost immediately in the late 2000s, a few years after Facebook launched.
Alladin Project (El Nadiv and brother Ayal) and Phantasm Records (Eli) begin producing events
Two collectives – Neil and Pat of PSI (Philadelphia Shamanista Initiative) and a group of friends in New Jersey including Adam, Jowe, Ian, Kim and Chris – begin organizing open-air festivals in the Pine Barrens

What can be said about Wed. night at Who’s on First?
From the look of the crowd, everyone seemed to be having a good time. Jeff and Tony were great on the decks (as usual). The bartender (Viviana(?)) was pouring me increasingly more dangerous drinks as the evening wore on. In all, the pounding in my head tells me I enjoyed it.
Now, on to business.
Response to the house was great. We received plenty of positive feedback and managed to take in most of the cash needed to secure the house for the season. A BIG THANKS to David, Ben, Jeff and Daniel for bringing us almost to what we need.
All told, we’re at $2400. We need $3000 by Friday, which is when we have to get the realtor the cash to be able to move in for the weekend of the 18th. We’re only $600 short! That’s 12 people at $50 for a weekend, or 6 at $100.

I bet you didn’t know about the undercover cops that were there too, huh? check it, this is truthful and as honest as I can get. now, as you know, I worked at the party as a stewardess (have photo proof, plus, well, you saw me), and I had a lot of fucked up shit happen during my time at the party and I even spoke with my party “supervisor” the afternoon after to hear what was the deal, so know that everything I state, is true and I don’t’ care if you post my name up with what I say.. it’s the damn truth!! Here’s the dealy.. cut and paste with what I sent to my friends about it the day afterward. If you didn’t hear, let me be the first to let you know. If you know anyone at BlackKat or an organizer for the Run DMC event, I think you should inform them to call up whoever needs to be calling ASAP to get what is the deal for the future of their events. Lunatarium.. RIP!!! Friday night was crazy, bottom line.. Party started off really great, I will admit.. I was the flight attendant at the Red Roof Inn (aka the Chill tent) most of the night, accepting sob stories or bribes from flight passengers to get a reservation, if anyone from this list was there and didn’t recognize me in my costume and wig.. anyways, at first, it was I guess normal… I mean, minus the crazed guy who got pissed that I didn’t allow him to smoke his dippy in the tent and the 1.5 hour wait others had to endure to get into the party because the freight elevator was acting up, everyone had a great time.. I mean, the deco at the place was beyond great, everyone that participated in working there as flight attendants or ground crew was working and looking great and everyone that came around to my part of the party enjoyed my bitchy speel at being selective on who got into the tent and reaped the benefits of having an Alicia-controlled environment. Then, things started going wacked. at 1:30am, I guess, I was approached by an individual that there was a fire on the 6th(?) floor and we had to evacuate the building.. So, I turned to my chill room occupants, told them to leave, and they were like, whatever. So we all ended up chilling in the tent smoking because no one else at the party seemed to be leaving and we all thought it was a joke.. Then a few minutes later, I saw FDNY guys walking around the party.. So I had to get back to my speel and try to keep things chill and the FDNY away from my tent (smell what I’m cooking here???) .. then, a few minutes later, after the 4 firetrucks and company left, the party kept on.. then a few minutes later, an undercover cop came up to me and started asking me about the Red Roof Inn and trying to get in, so I ended up getting back into character and became Glenda, the bitchy reservationist and he got a bit pissed that I didn’t let him in.. Was told later on that I bitched out a NYPD officer, so I had to give a minor prop to myself for doing that.. heh heh.. Then, afterward dropped that undercovers were at the party, things got really f’ed up.. Lunatarium, to their horror, didn’t seem to have legal permits to sell alcohol (WHAT???), hence selling to underage people (WHAT???), no cabaret license (WHATT???) and with the undercovers seeing what they saw (people doing and selling K and other crazed stuff), even with the Lunatarium security being around, they ended up cracking heads and shut the party down at 3:45am.. Based on what I heard directly from the co-party thrower on Saturday afternoon, after she got back from getting some props and deco from the place, Lunatarium probably will not be able to throw any more parties in the near future. So, I don’t know.. Overall, if anyone drops any words about oh, the Lunatarium got shut down because of the organizers at the party, know this.. Lunatarium screwed themselves over, not Madagascar, not Shel, not no one who took part in that party as far as organizing and working.. I mean, Lunatarium had their own staff screw the venue over. How hard is it to check an ID before serving alcohol or something? how hard is it to get proper papers to keep your shit going? You know.. Plus now people are talking about them not being able to pay their rent.. welps, tough shit, huh? But anyways, if you are looking for something to do on Saturday night, if Lunatarium can’t legally be open for parties anymore, you can always come to my and $mall Change’s b-day party at *cough cough*.. Last Friday was to my experience New York’s first big ambient event. It went off well, despite a long wait at the door and Lunatarium not having its liquor license current which caused it to close at 4am. There was some off again randomness at Wylie’s afterwards, Sheldon Drake made a brief appearance. -Freaky Tuesdays at Who’s on First are officially on!! -We officially got the DMTSki house!

Saturday we are celebrating Boris’ birthday at Ave A Sushi, afterwhich we will be spinnin’ and partyin’ at our playpen in queens. The joint is stocked of course w/ a/v trip toys and art supplies, music, books, and the neighbors are cool (all-nighters are never a problem).
We figure on eating around 9-ish and then being back here after 11:00. rsvp us so I know if I should reserve a table for how many…and so I know if I should push back the sofas!

Astral & Dino Review plus Tsunami surprise The Synthetic Party was good. Dino Psaras did his usual hard early set and finished the morning with a groovier one.
Astral was great, I’m not a big fan but their new stuff was nice and hard and still melodic. Although Yahel was playing to Israelis in Brooklyn (double booking – yuck!) many still showed their strength. The crowd was heavily young and American. Tsunami- heard a crazy rumor. They will have a weekly soon with Twilo’s Phazon sound system… for those of you outside NYC, it’s said to be the best in the world. and the Manhattan location will boggle your mind. If the sound and environment is architected, it will blow away the ’96 – ’98 Tsunami reign at Vinyl. For me, it makes me feel that REAL trance will FINALLY have a chance to do its best on that system.

Why Omnitribe? Their location at west 26th is one of the nicest. For those with long memories, it’s similar to the Metropolitan Pavilion. And enough time has passed since their Giger Room sound snafu that they can yet again be acknowledged as having the best sound for a midsize event, second only to Gavin’s Mackey armada at the Spectra parties. It’s in the basement of a fencing school owned by a really great guy named Leroy. Put it on your calendars to come to check it out if you’ve never been there. The water is free, the vibe is intimate, and the price is very reasonable.

Minimal to absolutely fluffy psytrance at a private isolated 3 story lodge in the forest of the Poconos mountains through Sunday!!! email rocktheshow at aol for information on DMTSki and directions to the house. $20. Featuring the lame-duck snowboarding DJs, jacuzzi, sound system, fireplace, snowball fights, psychodrama, and more. Everyone try to get Vitalik to come back out this year – I first met him at the DMTSki house a year ago, when he showed up at 4am, out of the blizzard. He was suspiciously quiet, but I could see wheels going on behind his eyes. Must be willing to share sleep quarters with others. The biggest thing you have to concern yourself with is to get a ride. It’s a two-hour drive from the city. Ski lifts are 10 minutes away. Few end up skiing. Bring blankets, video games, VHS, CDs, stuff to do – and food. There will be someone (me!) at the Omnitribe party watching over luggage in case you have a lot to bring.
Omnitribe/DMT Ski Review Omnitribe was comfortable and vibesy as usual… everyone seemed to show. Thanks to Vitalik, Dima, and the Omnitribers for putting on another good party. the amp or speakers got blown early in the evening but I didn’t notice. I think they were on warranty so that’s cool. But it did thin the crowd out midway through the evening. Sweden’s Peter DiDJital was great, I hear he lives in Brooklyn. A bunch of Israelis were tripping for the first time and thought the music was in their heads. Rocky of Atomic Trance was not actually doing video, it was Alphatrance’s Misha with the dancing Russian bear – that really freaked me out! Kelly was literally rolling on the floor. The DMTSki was fun. I just got back this morning. There wasn’t any snow around the house, but the house is out in the woods and the weather was crystal clear. It was fun to hibernate in the jacuzzi then run around out in the cold, steaming. The challenge as always is to get transport out there. With only 20 people there it wasn’t a big party but everyone brought plenty to share and had plenty of space, including Me, Kamal, Cheryl, some Israeli girl, Chachi, Mayoora, Mike, Shannon, Paul, Rebecca, Yacc, Stefan, and Oren. We may do this again after Ben’s Friday party in case the GMS Lunartarium thing doesn’t go down; if not that, then the following weekend looks clear. I’m hoping to get enough interest to rent a house year-round, a safe house, if you will, and place where we can always go if we are homeless or just need to get out in the woods.

I ventured down to a Psy-Trance Birthday Party held in a loft in Williamsburgh and WOW what a Blast! The Groove never stopped from beginning to end. Once in a while, there might be a 5-second lull between waves of sound, and people would break into spontaneous applause, to reward the hard-working DJs.
The ONLY lights were Black-Lights. There was a Beautiful KozMik Solar System
of Unknown Planets, all different shapes and sizes and painted in original Day-Glows.
Staring at them in awe, I took a double-take and realized, YES, it wasn’t my imagination…
….they were slowly revolving around, above the Dance Floor in different directions. Speaking of the Dance Floor, upon it was Intricate Diamond Patterns in Day-Glow tapes, creating a kind of karmic force to those dancing above and upon it. The Front of the room had a kind of Cosmic Healing area. There were folks painting, making beads and weaving Flourescent strands into others’ flowing Hair. There were also beautiful people writing out signs and statements explaining why we are all here…..”to enjoy and respect life and to be responsible to the earth and all its creatures”.There was also a wonderful Tattoo Artist named Artext who was offering reasonably-priced Temporary AirBrush Skin Painting. Amazing talent. One woman looked like a Tiger, another like a Lion. Every face I saw all night had the biggest Smile I have ever witnessed at club, and believe me, I go to clubs 4-5 nights every week. It was infectious. There were ample supplies of FREE Farm-Fresh Apples, Pears, Bananas and Water. Also, because this Psy-Trance was also a Birthday Party for a LovelGirl named Jamie, there was also Yummy Chocolate Birthday Cake. The Party began at 11PM and didn’t break up ’til 11AM the next morning. The Light Show was amazing all night long, the constantly changing DJs gave everyone ample chance to find the groove they were seeking and the revelers were each and everyone satisfied. I prided myself in locating the best, happy party I can ever remember attending.

Keepin’ it real at the Lunatarium As for the Lunatarium, AFAIK it [the trance party this Saturday] isn’t a GO so I would assume that whoever is having a function will have to find an alternative location, unless some miracle happens! Lu hasn’t been a go since Airport, minus the Run DMC event and with that… the boys that were organizing that wasn’t letting the Lunatarium crew or the city cancel their party for nothing! They did all the groundwork and cover with that (along with have tons of $$$ to help them), so that was the only reason why they were allowed to get away with it.

Several Israelis got in trouble with the Feds for being involved with ecstacy. Between that and straight out INS deportation, the more lawless element is getting squeezed. So Fluffy says, in a high pitched, sqeaky voice, stay away from E or you too will get a call from the DEA/FBI.

Most of the time we stayed in Tulum, in small wooden beach huts right on the beach. We rented it from a Mayan family who cooked us breakfast in the morning, let us play with a little insanely adorable furry creature named Lulu, and told us stories under the stars about Maya People coming down to Earth from Orion’s Belt and disappearing back up there after completing their mission here. Not to mention the gorgeous Caribbean Sea (I’ve never seen waves this color), blue skies and bright yellow sun…every day… It was paradise One of the places we went to while in Tulum was Coba – an ancient Mayan city – one of the largest discovered to date. Most of the pictures were taken there. It’s in the middle of the jungle, half restored, mostly untouched by archeologists and tourists. We actually had to walk through the jungle for several kilometers to get from one pyramid to another. Overall, I think Coba is over 80 sq. miles with 5 lakes. Nohoch Mul is the tallest pyramid in the Yucatan peninsula and is the main pyramid in the city dedicated to the Sun God. It is 12 stories tall,has 120 steps to the top and we actually did climb it…climbing down was much more fun…he he :)But it was all absolutely worth it, since from the top we watched the sunset (Mayan Descending God) over a magnificent span of jungle, lakes, and the ruins of ancient civilization laid out before you… It’s really not very expressible in words with the tops of other ruins reaching above the jungle the Mexican New year’s rave didn’t quite match up after all of this, so we left the party early and went snorkeling in coral reefs in Puerto Marelos – another completely transient experience (!!!), in no way not manageable by words [Danila, thanks for recommending to try it!]. Swimming with tie-dyed colored tropical fish on the after-party-first-day-of-New-Year-morning was awesome, I managed to completely get over my phobia of water and whatever else the sea might hide, and Max even swam with a huge sea turtle, which is considered a sign of very good fortune among Mayans. Couldn’t wish for a better new year’s start… the last major stop was an in-land ancient town of Valladolid, built-in 16th century by the Spanish, which impressed me with its wonderful architecture and most wonderful people …

Garen I do believe in go go go NYC, but just wanted to let you know that the sound system at Twilo is actually top 3 in the world (which makes it one of the best, not necessarily the best) behind a mega-club in Manchester and another club in Berlin. I read about that a year or so ago.

A new initiate in trance Why am I sending this? He put a lot of effort into writing it. Sent w/permission. I talked to a friend that went to the birthday party last Friday, and he said it was off the hook, he’s the person that introduced me to psytrance via Koxbox, he was raving about some edrum pads / tribal peoples, he said it was a killer party and the vibe was amazing etc !:) I’ve known about the DMT since the Gwashington bridge parties, but for some reason never signed on,, then lost contact,, and now im seeking people who are on the same spiritual path(?) as me… I’ve experienced the religious awakening at my first open-air event (wemf) after dancing for almost 15 hours the veil was lifted and I was walking through higher planes of consciousness. my first psytrance event however was the raja ram/logic bomb party at the Roxy!!! the vibe of that party was unbelievable. I think I would have had a much better time at the Roxy if had been mentally prepared (for the music), but I had no idea on how I was supposed to comprehend the music and was catapulted into sensory overload. I didn’t get ‘it’ until the wemf. and boy did i! the first night I danced until my legs gave out midnight – 9am, I have never experienced pain like that, it felt like I had hyperextended both my legs (back) and I was stuck in a half bend over position. I couldn’t move! (i always do my stretches now), but some of the DJs saw me and just smiled. the next night started at around 5pm w/ brainwerkz from Ottawa and went until about 11am! thankfully I had regained my composure and was able to throw down yet again. lori’s set was slammin’ in the early morning. this was about the time the veil was lifted and the fires in my soul erupted… I was talking to this greek guy at the Roxy the week before, and he was explaining to me how these parties were like a religion to some people and I just looked at him like, what?!? (i come from a middle-class Christian family so) but now these parties ARE like a religion to me. this music has sparked my very being, (you know, I can’t put words to it), but I feel it. it makes me want to learn (i haven’t had time to read all the books on my bookshelf, but I have read some, one of my all-time favorite books is the Illuminati trilogy, im also exploring my dreams… I have a huge library some 150 books from various authors, c.g. Jung, Wilson, H.P. Blavatsky, Aleister Crowley, p.d.ouspensky, Gurdjieff, Rudolf Steiner, Janet and Stewart Farrar, books on dreams, Wicca, the occult…. I was actually working at a thrift store 2 summers ago, and while I was working someone dropped off 4 boxs of these books, right about the same time I was finishing the Illuminati trilogy… jackpot! I’m not that knowledgeable (yet) being that I’m a full-time slave in college. I’m still a fledgling walking on the path. (the ‘correct’ path was shown to me recently in a dream, and that is why I’m seeking like-minded people out). my mind has opened into an infinite learning circle, and I just can’t wait to B w/ others that have like fires burning in their souls. I was in an extremely susceptible position (i had recently eaten half a vile), and I realized that there was nothing stopping me from crushing this unfriendly. I am NOT a violent person (as in I avoid conflict at all costs), and these thoughts really scared me, fortunately, I am FULLY trained in handling my mental condition and was able to hold myself back. the altercation pumped enormous amounts of adrenaline through my body. the way I see it, it was just a test, and I did the right thing by controlling my primal urges to kick that kids ass. I re-channeled all the adrenaline/energy into my dance for the evening and I had a GREAT time. at the time I thought that there would have not been that many people capable of handling themselves in my situation. somehow I made the connection to being Like a samurai by having similar mental conditioning. Friends from London relate that there were TWELVE trance parties listed in London last weekend – and nobody is complaining about double booking. Maybe NYC can catch up. I just got out of a meeting with John Emmanuel Gartmann of Tsunami. Shelter this Saturday with Talamasca is really looking good. The old club Speeed was bought by the people who ran Shelter at Vinyl back in the day. Although it maxes out at 500 people (the roof is still closed) they have completely remodeled the place. There is of course the Phazon sound system, but there is also new AC installed on the top floor. JEG envisions this weekly to attract new non-trance people, something Tsunami has excelled in since 1995. Mike Bindra from the old Twilo was at Vinyl Saturday checking out the scene… that progressive trance/house warrior only booked psy at Twilo THRICE!! So the Hux Flux list at Vinyl was a success, and John Emmanuel honored it. We’ll continue to do it every Saturday, until further notice, mostly at Shelter, with some dates at Vinyl.

Tsunami Review
The Math – What has Tsunami always lacked? Good sound. What do they have now? A newly installed Phazon system. Do the math. Phazon digital sound + Low cover + 12 hour party + out of events.
The crowd – The place was packed by 2am. I estimate 300 but it still could have squeezed in 50. It was still comfortable though.
The Decor – The decorations were about as good as could be managed within the constraints of a basement location (no space for projections, and limited wall space for expansive murals).
The Sound – Nobody was used to not having to yell to be heard, even while standing in front of the speaker (this shed light on s-e who were used to anonymity). Eduardo had come in that day to tweak the system. There is still a little tweaking to do – the guys at Phazon who knew we were doing a ” hippy party” with their system said the bass was not turned up enough – bu t the sound is still clear and pervasive.
The DJs – Ryan and Ofer opened, did a fantastic job (Ofer used to play a lot for Tsunami. He runs Purple Oz, which distributes trance to Throb and H-e of Trance) Cederic AKA DJ LeStat of Talamasca did a long set. He started hard and eased up in the morning. Kamal came on after 8am and played through 11am. His first track was Deeper in Zen, fr- the upcoming American psytrance Soular Records compilation (fr- which Ofer also produced and played a track.)
The Vibe – Lisa and Kelly behaved themselves this time. There were m-ents when at least 8 women were all chanting in unison. Consequently, the crowd got into a frenzy I haven’t seen in a long time. It’s easy to lose yourself with that clear clean and powerful sound. On the first floor was a fantastic food layout with cake, chocolates, fruits. The old skool Shelter crew were up on 3 rd floor with a bigger sound system, many hot and heavy gay black men. Curiously, only the hardcore of thirty or so stayed to the end. All in all it was a promising start and I have faith in their ability to keep the space indefinitely. It’s an unbeatable great deal for $20. The brainmachines email list will continue. Flyers hard to get Now if Home of Trance will carry their flyers as opposed to allowing the accursed Paul Oakenfold style flyers, everything will be Logical on Vulcan. Tsunami/$20
So promoters, take note: John is camping on Saturdays for a while, and given their marketing muscle, it will most probably harken back to the biweekly Vinyl reign of 97-98.

Airport Trance Party I just dreamed about going to one of your parties: took place in an airport/customs area. the party was in a different country and I was waiting to get my ticket/show id to this woman that worked the custom’s window said I couldn’t pass because I owed the state like some $250 dollars or something. you happened to be in line ahead of me and told me to take the secret entrance to the party. the custom’s woman got noticeably angered and told me that they would follow me where ever I went so that I wouldn’t be able to get into the party. I had faith however that I would be able to circumvent the checkpoint. walking back the way I came, past an escalator I came to the ‘secret entrance’ which was just an ordinary circle grate in the floor. the customs woman was not too far behind… following at a safe distance. I kneeled down on the grate and grounded both of my hands. the customs woman ran up and was screaming something but I was in already in a deep trance. the grate started to raise and lower like there were gusts of wind blowing up from underneath. the woman looked at me and then ran to get more help… as she turned and ran that was just enough time for the grate to free fall about 5 stories and nestle to the ground. there wasn’t any time to waste! I quickly ran off the grate at full steam head. I was in an old 1920s like a deserted subway station. I was guided in the right direction by very subtle arrows in the crisscrossed tile floor. I didn’t have very much time, because I knew that the customs agents would be right behind me very shortly… but they couldn’t read the arrows like my mind could, and I quickly lost them. the party was in the basement of this old warehouse… (which was some strange dance floor, cause it combined the hardwood floor w/ a full working kitchen…) the DJ was just coming on so I ordered an egg cheese melt. it was ON! lol. I think I’m going to go make that egg cheese melt now… have fun tonight.

Finally, the details of my case can be released. As we expected, all my charges were formally dismissed this morning and sealed – burglary, trespassing, possession of K, possession of paraphernalia, possession of needles. All misdemeanors. They tried to find felony drugs in a bunch of Pez candy I had but tests proved fruitless. So the computer crime unit and narcotics lost any interest in even meeting with me. My lawyer said it’s common for police to take whatever they can get away with from drug suspects. With all the hippy and drug-related posters, medical diagrams, MRI brain scans, brain machines, electrodes, bags of funny-smelling unidentifiable powders, scales, syringes, computers, costumes, tennis bags full of Pez candies (which tested negative), pictures of me in Amsterdam wearing Cyberdog pants, Polaroids of me smiling with a gas mask and beaker and a huge assortment of (legal) smart drugs and literature etc they mistook my party pad for a drug lab!
(Note to self: Keep apartment presentable to the authorities should they ever be allowed in by a guest.)There have been numerous instances where police would call 911 on a known drug dealer, go there, and steal whatever they can. I knew something was “up” when an arresting officer pocketed my wallet with $1500 and party supplies 🙂 Karma works in mysterious ways. Had he been honest I would still be in jail (and the judge would have probably not granted me release on my own recognizance without having to post bail)
My lawyer is also President of the New York Criminal Bar. He is enraged at my treatment and will see it through to the end and is confident we’ll get ours. The whole recovery process will take a while (it took 9 months to get to THIS point) and may involve a lawsuit against the city or NYPD. My lawyer sees this as necessary so that the DA can keep a handle on the NYPD’s actions. As my case was dismissed, I still have plenty of credit for the retainer. I have plenty of documentation of my possessions and a battery of solid testimonials and a job and all that so my lawyer says my chances are good to make a difference and show the police that we are innocent until proven guilty. I for one want to teach the bullies a lesson: whether it’s the BTS or NYPD, we can’t let thugs get away with theft. Much thanks to Omnitribe who kept the outdoor spirit alive last year!

So it’s a Ram Dass movie… Hey Jeff, Are you talking about the movie about Ram Dass (Richard Alpert getting kicked out of Harvard for doing acid)? I went to see it last night- it was awesome. However, it is not really about him doing acid. It is about Ram Dass, being one of the spiritual icons of the 60’s (he wrote the book Be Here Now) and now he is dealing with his life after having a stroke. He speaks of action, prayer, love, and living his life now with “Fierce Grace” (as the title of the movie.) It was one of the most moving movies I have ever seen and I recommend it highly. Also last night the director, Mickey Lemly was there for Q&A after the movie which was a delightful bonus. He may be there tonight too as it being the last day. It will be playing today at the film forum at 1:00, 2:50, 4:40, 6:30, 8:20, and 10:00. If anyone does not get a chance to see the movie, get the book Be Here Now It has been life-changing for many. What a wild party! Their biggest ever. There must have been at least 250 in there with a lot of new faces. It had a little of everything – a bubble, flea market, art by Uta, chai by Rebeccah, Rocky doing projections, slammin music, lots of people, cops showing up TWICE (a drum & bass party at that location had had a big drinking fight incident) Supposedly we were “lucky” because there is an NYPD cabaret crew that drives around looking for parties and videotapes the evidence – bottles of beer!

List Update: This Saturday will be DJ Purple (Transient/UK) and Yoni (History of the Future). We’ll continue to do it every Saturday, until further notice, mostly at Shelter, with some dates at Vinyl.

First words from Mexico For those of you who haven’t heard from the crew that went down to Mexico for the trance party on the beach by the pyramids, they are ALL OK AND ALIVE and if they didn’t come back it’s because they’re having the time of their lives: [annotated to protect the guilty] Mexico is mystical, I have never traveled outside the U.S. so you can imagine how I was freaking out at the Tulum ruins. the gods are everywhere and give and take away as necessary. it is uncanny how fast and obvious karma plays here. the most important lesson I have learned is respect for the land and for other’s lives and customs. I feel that the New Yorkers received some flak (i.e. elite attitudes) for being who they are, but at the same time, New Yorkers do need to learn patience, and especially in Mexico, to go with the flow and forget about time and money. But, New York represented well, we are all very unique, a microcosm of the world, even if not everyone can appreciate it. the first party was more progressive, son kite being the highlight for me. In Tulum, the cats from iboga really kicked some ass and the site was beautiful. we missed the afterparty due to ‘car problems’. but no great loss there. later in the night we [hung with some of the DJs.] I hope they had a good experience, I had to forgo my first time because I caught a car to the airport. the things money forces to do… so many weird and wonderful things happened I do not have the time to recount, especially the messages from the gods in the music, the people, and the environment, sometimes good, sometimes devilish. some truly interesting and bizarre stuff. when I can get a hut on the beach with highspeed internet and ac power, please let me know. oh and it was funny when I came back… I had these army pants rolled up with a green long sleeve t-shirt, 5 day stubble, no socks and a backpack… also I made several changes to my ticket… heheh, they all thought I was a terrorist!!! I didn’t have time to clean up like I thought I would… it was funny… when I sat down this big dude next to me flexed his muscles and nudged me (several times) in the arm asking if ‘I had enough room’, two guys were waiting for me when I got out of the plane’s bathroom, I felt my brain being scanned for unusual activity. I was being spied on basically…and this is no delusion if you saw what I looked like! never mind the problem that the united states gave me in immigration…

Saturday Wow- right now – Synthetic mini-review, tonight and tomorrow Just woke up from Omnitribe’s after-, and somewhat on the way to Tsunami where last night’s star Yani will play a lot of his new crazy unreleased tracks. Synthetic was a new bar with the taut Scando music and artwork in sync. Logic Bomb, Laughing Buddha and Yani more than picked up the slack. Don’t forget also that Sunday night will be a free bring-your-own video trance party at Korova Mike Bar.

Saturday – Synthetic Review from the upstate NY guy last night’s show was amazing! logic bomb tore up many tracks off of twisted’s unusual suspects disc, along with alien project’s first revelation of the mystery of the thirteen crystal skull. I got to the party really early, at like 11:45 when there was about 25 peeps there… the opening DJ started it off right. usually get to these parties at like 1am. this party was the definition of full-on (i know I said last month’s party was the full-on, but I was gravely mistaken, this party was believable… too bad it had to come to an end 8am 🙁 … this party was so good that all I wanted to do was dance more, so I did… checked out an after-hours party and danced… the Amazura was radiant in condensed chaos… beautiful free human expression. everyone I encountered on this strange pilgrimage to the holy city to have positive implications on my life 8-). yoni spun some of his unreleased track that were just dont right psy sickness… so good… looking forward to seeing him again tonight at Tsunami

I forgot last week to thank AtomicJuice and the sacred geometry dude DNA Dan for creating the wonderful video pyramid installation in the chillout room at Synthetic Sadhus. Also thanks to the nice kids at NYU for setting up a booth at Tsunami for DanceSafe, even though the Shelter people were skittish about DMT literature being distributed at their venue. (I think presence at private non-club spaces like Vor-tech’s and Omnitribe’s and Hommega’s events may go off more smoothly, in that order; these venues also generally pack more people in!) These guys were the same group as who donated use of their speakers for the DMTSki house. You guys rock!

Both parties this weekend were sparsely attended and I attune that to the Passover and Easter. (I didn’t make it to Mandala on Sunday). Although seeing Patti LaBelle singing the Lord’s Prayer on the third floor at Shelter on Saturday was a guilty pleasure.

The DMT Generator Fiasco

Initially, we supposed some bike thieves took it, but the kryptonite lock was found unlocked in the mess on the floor several months later. There were only two keys to it, one in my possession and one in another list moderator’s, who was last seen in the middle of locking it up it. This person accused me of stealing it, and continues to do so.I agree to undergo a professional polygraph to clear my name and answer any questions any of you may have concerning the missing generator.I am willing to answer anything, for as long as requested.-If it is found I am indeed telling the truth then I demand an apology from anyone who accused me of its loss. Even if they do not offer an apology, or agree to be accountable for the generator replacement, this matter should be considered case closed, I will be content to go on with my life. In any case, I will hold no grudges, and will continue to support everyone who makes trance happen. And I will raise money for a new generator and for Mark should he agree to be tested (see below)-If it is found that I am lying – that I am willing to lie when I swear on my grandmothers’ graves – that I had ANYTHING to do with the generator’s loss, then I will: admit I am a lying scumbag thief, will personally owe the cost of the test; replace the generator; publicly apologize to mark and everyone via brainmachines, psytrance and on my web site on the home page and in person if need be; delete the dmtny list, and agree to be excommunicated if needed from the DMT never ever to return! I will never harp on this again. I will be out of your hair, but will be forever shamed by the treachery!-Put yourself in my shoes. If you were wrongfully accused publicly or no then you would DESERVE a chance to clear your name. This is no popularity contest, this is a determination of slander and character assassination. I have been through a rough personal patch with the police etc. but my word, ethics, and goodwill are and have always been solid. I’ve never been afraid to admit if I fucked up somewhere. Forget money or speakers or generators, without trustworthiness we have nothing. -If my accuser(s) are not willing to come forward and put this to the test, then their reluctance should speak for itself. I personally don’t think they have the balls.And it has to be a professional reputable polygraph, not a cheap Radio Shack kit! “Advocates of the polygraph, among them the American Polygraph Association, say that experienced testers can see through these efforts [to beat the polygraph], however, and that polygraphs E28094 while not foolproof E28094 are a useful tool for authorities.” I am pretty certain that a good test has a very low margin of error and will be difficult to fake. Unfortunately, I do not have the funds right now, and even if I did and underwent a polygraph myself then the results would be suspect. But if anyone is willing to chip in for the test, I am so there and this matter can be cleared and the real liar(s) exposed. Maybe Kamal would be a good choice to organize this, or even Mark at indole. Will anyone step forward? I should not raise money for this, because if I am a liar then I can not be trusted with money. There should be at least two witnesses, and that the results be made available to everyone in the DMT. Mark can be free to take a polygraph too if he so desires, in which case I would like him to answer the question of whether he is 100% sure that he left the key in the lock when locking the lock together and then turned it clockwise. if you want vibe and all that Spectra and Omnitribe and burning elf and DMT are the way to go. smaller better in that regard. the problem is, there’s just not enough core trance people to go around, esp. with all the sheet going on in Israel now. the economy sucks and people can’t afford to go out. Sometimes I feel like most people I know are unemployed. I still can’t figure if it’s because they’re trance people, either…SS and Tsunami have the best big-name DJs and SS has by far the best art and decor ever. But large parties attract a general crowd. As you go Above Ground you dilute your vibe somewhat, it’s inevitable. if you are a newcomer it’s harder because you can’t find a nice crowd of friends. Tsunami has had its ups and downs. SS seems to have a nice trance mafia all around. The irony is that more ravers go to Amazura. SS gets more clubby people, esp as it’s at the Amazura. Although some people refuse to go there. my favorite all-time place is Amazura. The Amazura has always had problems with theft; I’m sure it’s the same people. There are also raves thrown at Amazura. Probably the same who were smoking angel dust. We are finding out that venue has a big influence on vibe. Tsunami at Vinyl are always standing room only. SS at Marc Ballroom was always hot crowded but wonderful. Tsunami at Shelter is comfortable but somewhat sparse. SS at Amazura is spacious, beautiful, and a little PUBLIC, like a shopping mall taking over by a psychedelic Santa aided by his elves.. Ho Ho Ho. …And an evil Santa with a big bag of your toys, walking out the door. So lock your shit up and enjoy the music!

All the DJs were great but the dancers made the energy skyrocket. We were all on a journey on the ship of the imagination. Both the dock and boat were packed with beautiful natural people, bigger than a trance crowd, the vibe was intense. Lisa says “lots of sacred Rainbow energy, shiny eyes. God bless…” On the docks, which were covered, the main floor had tapestries by Alex Grey and some by Eli Morgan. On the boat, the dungeon engine room had sensual electric wizardry and horizontal video screens projected from above. Alex Grey had a room in the aft with art and books and the Mindfold, a device that enables to keep your eyes open and see complete blackness, and comes with earplugs. And the fire dancers on top of the boat – wow! Many new faces and many old ones. Many new connections. Looking forward to the next one. *** Trance has greater meaning when it’s not just a “party.” (Not to confuse psychedelic sensuality or even sensuousness with pure spirituality, which spirals out of the senses. Son Kite at Fun-o-Rama was off the hook. Everyone came out of the woodwork for this one, the Tulum Mexico crew, the Philly and Mass and CT crew. Many trancers got lost and twisted in the indoor playground structure set up. This morning I had msgs from Wiley at the nearby outdoor afterparty that they were rocking in the sun and everybody was there. Will someone please buy some paint and paint Wiley’s VW van with intelligent psychedelic dayglo motifs already? It seriously needs some work!I was asleep all day at me casa with my woman being responsible and all that, having DMT dreams about robotic dollhouses with the option of becoming the dolls, Alice in Wonderland style (that happens to your dreams if you’ve even smoked it just once); besides she has all my music at her house, the schemer. But the party needs of the many outweigh the party needs of a few, and by the Utiltarian Spock logic today was mighty efficient. Uh, no idea how Liran’s Hommega party at Tribeca Grand Hotel went, let’s just say there was a nice contingent of Israelis at Son Kite and we’ll leave it at that. Lord of the Rings finally a-go go
In case you haven’t heard, the weekend-long outdoor Lord of the Rings-themed trance festival is a go. Dress as your favorite Lord of the Rings character. I myself have 3 or 4 different personae lined up for your edification and amusement, including maybe, the Eldar bearer of the 3rd Elven Ring AKA the “Red Ring” (the identity will be revealed Friday), the Hobbit Golfimbul (who invented Golf by hitting a “goblin” so perfectly his head flew off many yards), a Uruk Hai Orc leading a scando heavy metal band (with Metal Mark as backup but need a drummer, Peter Criss is busy), and Sauron himself. You can be.. Galadriel, or Gandalf, or Elrond, Legolas, Aragorn, Boromir, Gimli, Arwen, there are so many choices. Who will be Tom Bombadil? Celebrant? Saruman? Frodo? And who will bear the One True Ring?
I know many of you purists or even lightweights never wear costumes and just want to hear trance music. If that’s the case, I would like to make you feel as uncomfortable as possible over the course of a weekend. A weekend is a very long time to spend with me when you are not cooperating with the collective psychosis. If you haven’t read the books or seen the movie, you have a huge blind spot on your cultural literacy that needs to be remedied!!

Since you asked, mark at indole specifically mentioned some time last year that he would most logically be that troubadour of the woods, Tom Bombadil. We have the backing of a major concert producer. We are looking to get upwards of a thousand people over 2 or 3 days. One idea is to do it like they do in Bombay and get two barges attached with a boat ferrying people to and fro and call it a “Ground Zero” party.. XP wants to be at the ruins of the WTC but he doesn’t know the impossibility of that! And Wylie’s is too small:-) The legality of using barges is being looked at now; however, I want to send out a request for anyone who knows of a diamond in the rough legal outdoor venue… So far there is Randall’s Island and the Intrepid. Let’s all come together to hear Goa Gil again – and have it in our backyard so as to get three times as many people who came for the festival 2 years ago in the Catskills. Ecstasy fears based on ‘flawed tests’ By Robert Uhlig, Technology Correspondent (Filed: 18/04/2002) MUCH of the scientific evidence showing that ecstasy damages the brain is fundamentally flawed and has been mistakenly used by politicians to warn the public of the dangers of the d, a report said yesterday. The inquiry by New Scientist found that many of the findings on ecstasy published in respected journals could not be trusted. It said it was an “open secret” that some researchers who failed to find impairment in ecstasy users had trouble getting their findings published. “Our investigation suggests the experiments are so irretrievably flawed that the scientific community risks hemorrhaging credibility if it continues to let them inform public policy,” the report said. It found there were serious flaws in brain scans that allegedly show that ecstasy destroys nerve cells involved in the production and transport of serotonin, a vital brain chemical involved in a range of functions including memory, sleep, sex, appetite, and mood. In 1998, George Ricaurte and Una McCann at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore published a paper in The Lancet that seemed to provide the first evidence that ecstasy use led to lasting brain damage. The research involved brain scans with a radioactively tagged chemical probe that latched on to the serotonin transporter proteins that ecstasy targets. The thinking was that brains damaged by ecstasy would give off less radioactive ‘glow’ than those where the serotonin cells were intact. The scan pictures, which showed the brains of ecstasy users did on average glow less, were used in public information campaigns. In America, they strongly influenced harsher penalties for ecstasy offenses. But two independent experts told New Scientist there was a key flaw. They said the way brains reacted to this kind of scan varied enormously with or without ecstasy. Some healthy brains glowed up to 40 times brighter than others and even a number of ecstasy users’ brains outshone ecstasy-free brains by factors of 10 or more.
Another study by Dutch scientists led by Liesbeth Reneman and Gerard den Heeten at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam was similarly flawed. New Scientist said it found that “despite the poster depiction of ‘your brain on ecstasy’ there never was – and never has been – a typical scan showing the typical brain of a long-term ecstasy user”. Stephen Kish, a neuro-pathologist at the Center for Addiction and Health in Toronto, said: “There are no holes in the brains of ecstasy users. And if anyone wants a straightforward answer to whether ecstasy causes any brain damage, it’s impossible to get one from these papers.” Marc Laruelle, an expert on brain scanning at Columbia University, New York City, said: “All the papers have very significant scientific limitations that make me uneasy.” Similar uncertainty surrounds evidence that ecstasy impairs mental performance. In the majority of tests of mental agility, ecstasy users performed as well as non-users. Andrew Parrott, a psychologist at the University of East London, found that ecstasy users outperformed non-users in tests requiring them to rotate complex shapes in their mind’s eye.

Weekend review The place was pumping and packed. Alien Project was good – better than he was in SF. The night is finally hitting its stride. I showed up late with the list – around 330am or so. Sorry for those of you who had to pay an extra $5. It won’t happen again, but if you want to make sure to bring a printout. I was late because I was at The Lunatarium all day and was already nursing a hangover… that party was great as well and went into the wee hours. There was a lot of painting, body painting, weird stuff going on. We really put on a good show for Lee Harvey (Oswald!) the founder of Burning Man. In case y’all didn’t hear, due to legality thew lord of the rings will not happen as scheduled. BUT there is a east coast party in Maryland that weekend, tba on safetydance.

Another satisfied customer: Hey guys, I have a confession to make…I’m addicted. I can’t get enough… I go to sleep to trance…I wakeup to trance…my commute is only 25 minutes which is not a lot of time to go without music…now I’m gonna rip my room apart to find my old portable CDplayer!..and you can bet your bootie I’m gonna bring some speakers to work and hook em’ up to my computer(until they break down and get me a new computer that comes with speakers like SOME people in the office). Trance is taking over. I’ve been listening to trance since 1998 (Thanks to Luchino A.C for infecting me with this virus), butI’ve never been this trance crazy! I have to force myself to listen to the radio (just so I can stay in touch with the rest of the world)…I like other kinds of music hip-hop, alt-rock, drum and bass/triphop, jungle, jazz,r&b, reggae…but it’s not the same! I caught myself physically dancing (not minimal and not full out, but enough to be noticed) to the trance music in my head…at work!…I was having a good day…I thought “Oh my god I’ve lost it again!” and the other day I was listening to the reggae station and I kept picking out the trancy beats/sounds and dancing to it and I thought “Hey! What’s going on! Mhips are not moving right! I’m Jamerican! This is reggae…what’s wrong with me!” I even listen to the stuff on the radio and think “Hey, I could actually like this song! I do like it!”…but still it seems mindless. For me listening to trance is actually listening…an action that I took for granted. I decided to branch off and go to a non-trance party…a lot of my trance friends were there, nice penthouse,so so sound system, but I was bored out of my mind! I never thought I would EVER be bored…especially with a lot of friends around, and then I realized that there was nothing to listen to. The music was playing, but I couldn’t hear it, think it, smell it, taste it… I tasted sound twice. Once I was listening to Miles Davis and when he played this note the juices in the back corners of my mouth squirted something citrus and fruity (I can hum the song, but I don’t know the name….flamenco sketches maybe. I’ll listen to it when I get home and email you the name of the songlater…the second time I was at a Synthetic Sadhusparty about two years ago…and I don’t even remember who was spinning (damn!), but I felt like I was eating a four-course meal! I even had the sensation of lemonade! Are there any websites or medical info on tasting sound? Oh yeah, the thought crossed my mind that “Oh, it’s the drugs that are doing it.”, but I’ve gone to a lot (more than three or four) of parties sober and it’s the same thing…AND I’m not even high right now(I’m still at work)! Trance makes me “stupid happy”(my mushroom is infected) and I’m glad I have someone to write to who understands 🙂 Thanks for listening guys. The weekend-long outdoor Lord of the Rings themed trance festival is a go. Dress as your favorite Lord of the Rings character. I myself have 3 or 4 different personae lined up for your edification and amusement, including maybe, the Eldar bearer of the 3rd Elven Ring AKA the “Red Ring” (the identity will be revealed Friday), the Hobbit Golfimbul (who invented Golf by hitting a “goblin” so perfectly his head flew off many yards), a Uruk Hai Orc leading a scando heavy metal band (with Metal Mark as a backup but need a drummer, Peter Criss is busy), and Sauron himself. You can be.. Galadriel, or Gandalf, or Elrond, Legolas, Aragorn, Boromir, Gimli, Arwen, there are so many choices. Who will be Tom Bombadil? Celebrant? Saruman? Frodo? And who will bear the One True Ring?I know many of you purists or even lightweights never wear costumes and just want to hear trance music. If that’s the case, I would like to make you feel as uncomfortable as possible over the course of a weekend. A weekend is a very long time to spend with me when you are not cooperating with the collective psychosis. We had numerous skinny-dippers running around in the field of dandelions and clover wearing nothing but their blessings, and a naked Cave Troll (Wylie) in the river by the Lothlorien chillout zone wearing only his Viking helm and sword.
Machinelf (pictured above) dressed as an orc shaman with a drum that had been used in an ayahuasca ritual upstate in the Catskills, presided over an area called “New Orc City, Population 34 32 29.” Strewn across the ground were fake bones, guts, and an altar with a real human skull.
Mayur brought some guy from Mexico who supposedly was going to score us L (we had been long dry) but it turned up to be pretty bunky. We somehow survived this potentially deadly predicament.

[After Burning Elf I in May 2001 ]the next year, we did it again – this time we called it Lord of the Rings, and it was even bigger.
Ben Light-O-Matic had an ex-GF who had property in the Chenango River Valley, and we had no shortage of people wanting to come.
This time, the areas were set up to represent places in the novels and everybody stayed in character all weekend. There was New ORC City, Lothlorien chill zone by the river, Mines of Moria main dance area, Hobbiton car camping area. I remember one morning seeing an elf in latex ears, tights, and a wooden sword slashing away in the shallow waters by the swimming hole, and asked him (Noel from Ireland) what he was doing. He said,” I’m trying to lull them into a false sense of security!”
We had a costume contest, of course, won by a Galadriel in drag- Mathias, who later won fame in the scientific world for making glow in the dark mice.
Of course, the whole cat n mouse secrecy thing was stressed; I included instructions in the prep emails to be subtle and not do a walk of shame in the local village, or give the game away to the locals….and what did I see in the local grocery meat aisle, pushing a shopping cart but Machinelf, in full Orc latex facial prosthetics, wearing a grass skirt, and a codpiece made from rainbow-striped underwear!
So the locals heard about us.
They attended in droves and brought beer cans, (which were scattered everywhere but shared freely, and created quite a challenge to the whole grid walk LNT thing) and everybody had so much fun the local village paper wrote a review and then promptly invited us back to “do it again next year”!
One interesting side-story was the immediate neighbors, who deputized someone to be brave and come down the hill to find out what was going on down there, with those strangely dressed people. I had to go up to their porch, dressed in an outfit with tree branches in my hair (the elusive and never seen Entwife), and act out the entire LOTR story for them. The movie had not come out yet, and they were clueless. ” We thought you were eatin’ babies or something,” they said. I responded, “Well, you’ve already missed the 6:00 seating, but we’ll rustle up some leftovers!” I assured them we weren’t Satanists, lol. They came down, had a dance, and the next morning brought over some fresh eggs from their hens for the gang.

The next year I was too burnt out from the management of all this, and luckily, others were there to pick up the reins: Omnitribe did Omnidance at Echo Lake and of course, Boris built a Pyramid Stage for them, and we provided art: nomes and plywood mushrooms , and a movie theatre for a chillout space. Not much of a layoff really…..
There have been many psy events since; parties in the Pine Barrens of NJ, collectives born and morphed, Wonderland loft parties that birthed several famous Burning man collectives. Many of those original creative people are still doing events, DJing, traveling gaining international fame in the festival world. Many of us helped in getting the Chapel Of Sacred Mirrors off the ground and been actively employed there… another link in the rave- Burning Man scene, funnily enough. Mike Lembo didn’t lose the farm, but changed into an ATV park, several members married each other and had kids who are now assuredly attending their own festivals, and much art has been created. We all still keep in touch thanks to the magic of the cyberworld and Facebook, lol, and I fully expect the PLUR will keep rippling outwards.

Hommega Party review: well well well, what a great party! I rolled to the party when Goblin was playing, the crowd was good and the sound was good too. there were many Israelis as usual and the feel was warm. decorations were basic but effective because of the small space and of course, Goblin rocked the dancefloor… he played good stuff and people were responding. After him, came creative Dimitri to play his set. This man is a true DJ… I can’t ever argue with his selection, plus the way people were responding to it made even better. he dug into our heads and scratched our brains for a good 2 hours. IMO he was amazing. Liran came on after him and started with the morning festivities. Pretty good selection of floor killers into melodic psy 145bpm stuff… all in all, it was a great party. can’t wait till June 8th!

This is from On this night of May 28 2002, 17 days after my life changed forever, I have to share with you the most painful news ever, Krisztina Vegh, my only love, the other Sadhu, has just died in a plane crash, on the evening of Saturday, May 11 in Hungary, her native country And here I am, in front of a blank page, desperately trying to communicate the suffering I am going through. I just lost the essence of my innocence, the only woman I ever truly, deeply, infinitely loved without any boundaries and within every boundary. She was my soul mate, the reason I am still alive, she was sacred, Coming from a source of pure love and healing…
Her name was Krisztina, Krisztina Vegh, the most beautiful name I have ever heard, the most beautiful girl I have ever met. People who met her were blessed, only as a blooming sun can bless…She was a gift, a gift from life, a gift from the sacred source, and I had the rare privilege to share five full years of my existence with her. Now, she has surely returned to the source, they must have needed a soul as pure and beautiful as hers… But I can not accept and I do not want to accept it, I refuse to lose her. Over ten years ago, I discovered electronic music, at the starting edge of its cultural birth; it was an instant shock, an immediate understanding of this electronic language of emotions, a sudden appeal of my basic human tribal roots through a new synthetic pattern of feelings, displaying themselves as an infinite multilayered new reality. After years of complete devotion to this trance culture, with all its unforgettable memories and casualties, I fell in love all over again, but with a goddess this time and after melting our senses, sharing our dances, we gave birth to many beautiful things, some of which are a passionate relationship and SYNTHETIC SADHUS. The Sadhus are a perfect symbol of what we believe in, they have been known in the West since centuries as the naked philosophers, following a systematic reprogramming of the body and mind, a pursuit of the inner light through a mystical method to re-establish the link between the individual soul and the absolute. The inner light is the core of one’s consciousness, and still, the basic conception of Indian culture, where mystics, who devote themselves to the full-time exploration of the Inner Light are highly respected. Psychedelic trance was borne from European fathers living in Goa, and that is no coincidence. This music has always driven us towards our Inner light, it is full of mysticism and references to the Indian culture, it has been sponged by Indian influences and symbolism, which is exactly why it sounds so profound, so intense and so true. I really believe that one can be ‘touched’ by our music, that it carries somehow a sacred language for those who choose to understand it. And even if I often hate modernity’s consequences, it at least gave us access to new technologies, new instruments, that gave us the opportunity to blend those ancestral quests through a new form of expression, which finally explains our choice for the word SYNTHETIC. Since words are the carriers of beliefs, SYNTHETIC SADHUS definitely symbolizes what trance music represents for us. The music in itself really stands as the essence of our movement, but the parties represent the gatherings where people have this rare opportunity to meet, share, discover, experience, and simply express themselves with a freedom that most of us forgot about. In other words, there is in our gatherings a real opportunity for the attendance to get in touch with their human roots. We provide them with an environment built of fluorescent psychedelic paintings, sculptures, string art, video projections realized by some of the best international trance artists; making sure that every party features a new artist from overseas. And of course, we also provide them with a top-quality sound system on which the musicians can trust in order to express their music. We started to organize trance gatherings three years ago, after deciding to spend a fragment of our lives in New York, in the twenty-first century’s Rome, as another experience, as another challenge. Just got back. Wiley’s party was great. best ever. the orc’s set got cut off and the party was ended so Trancellor OggModd and Nils from Norway didn’t get to play. Then off to Omnitribe at coney island party, which got shut down by the police an hour after we got there. It was great while it lasted. there was actually another ravey crew there with 5 people and a mini system.there was an exquisite afterparty on the beach outside of a rest stop near Sheepshead Bay. beautiful beach with sand, and a whole other group of Russians playing dark dramatic morning music such as Skinny Puppy. i got to the party around 2am and GMS just got on, they played a lot of stuff off of No Rules and of course Shrek too. To be honest, I’ve been to many GMS shows, and I must say they were on their A-game that night. They had the crowd in a frenzy, I don’t think they lowered the bpm to under 142, even the stuff of the new album sounded a lot faster and meaner! The sick decorations by Brahama (i think) only added to the great atmosphere created by the flowing GMS madness. It was a little hot inside since I think there were only two fans in the whole place. another thing that was annoying was that no one was allowed to leave the premise at all. but no big deal since the party was so great anyways. there were a lot of beautiful people, all the regulars, all of Israel, and many people who told me this is their first psytrance event. hmm, maybe the “others” will finally make the big crossover in new york to quality… Raja Ram came on around 4 or a little bit after and in my opinion was confusing and disjunctive. He seemed to have lost the crowd after about 45 minutes of absolute lunacy of his set. I feel like I should bite my tongue for even thinking to criticize “half” of Shpongle, but that’s how I and many others felt. Luckily, yoni was playing killer morning set in the outside part of the party, great morning music accompanied by a beautiful sunrise and good chilly morning weather. we dug in concrete until about 8 when I felt like my feet were gonna give in. all in all it was a GREAT party…

Lurkers beware – There’s been a lot of weekend activity that is too underground for this list. Synthetic Sadhus put on a great show at the new location. Out of necessity people are tripping off on the vibe itself… wow. The Zodiac monthly events have been postponed for several months now until certain things are taken care of. As of this writing, there is nothing going on t his weekend, unless Omnitribe goes ahead with one on Friday.

daytime The first Synthetic Shamans ayahuasca workshop went very well. The next will be a bit closer to the city, a day trip. The ceremony will be held in a special spot in a large forest an hour north of the city, accessible via Metro North trains. We will meet at Grand Central June 8th at 10am and be back by 10pm. (From there, some of us will go straight to Synthetic Sadhus) There will be a short hike involved; bring a blanket, incense, musical instruments. The site is used quite often by friends of mine who bring a large radio and build a fire and have all day/night jams. We have six people so far… The ceremony’s suggested donation will be $100 and will be limited to the first 15 people; $90 for second-timers and DMT members, free for experienced South American vegetalistas. This weekend June 28th-30th there’s an outdoor festival with jungle and psytrance with a very friendly crowd. It was organized by very good people with the best intentions. Im not sure what the jungle lineup is but im very interested in checking it out. It’s a beautiful location with our privacy and bathrooms/showers. The unknown shrooms will be there representing psytrance, and we hope you all will come up and have a great weekend with us. Friday to late Saturday will be Jungle, Psytrance will be late Sat.- 12 noon Sunday. It’s outdoor, its a little bit of a break from a typical trance party, and the vibe is completely positive. OK First of everything is set and good to go. All the DJs are showing love by coming up, we got a new location that’s 300 acres of paradise. Renegade virus is coming with the sound system. We got a little bit of everything for everyone. This is promising to be nothing but a good fun and loving event. {The location of the place is: 4 Cameron rd. Athol, N.Y. 12810 #518 623 9474 Admission is 25 bucks which includes camping cost (rental of the land). There is gonna be a donation jar which is to give money to the DJs for coming up and showing love. There is bathrooms on location as well as showers, there is a store on location, be sure to bring what you need. A small grill if you have one, food that won’t go bad if not refrigerated, A sleeping bag or a nice big blanket. We will be on a mountain so it will get cold at night. bring a sweater, the river is right there so you might wanna bring shorts to swim on the river. Bring a garbage bag for your garbage. Do not leave cigarette butts on the ground. If it wasn’t there when you arrived don’t let it be there when you leave. No paper flyer promoting allowed. We don’t want papers all over the ground. Bring a tent if you have one. A first aid kit if you have one. a fire extinguisher if you have one. There will be only one community campfire, so we can keep things under control. Upon entry you will receive some reading material, that will set the rules of the land. Please read them carefully and cooperate with us. This event is gonna be very special and if everything goes well, we can make it a yearly event. So please come correct. Respect the land, respect the locals. We are being welcomed as guests into these people’s homeland. So be generous. We will have security and if you misbehave you will get kicked out without a refund. I trust all of you will be respectful to the land by cleaning up after yourselves. There is no they, it’s we, and together we must keep our earth clean and natural so that our future offspring will have something to enjoy. Be generous to each other and show love. This is a peaceful gathering and we don’t want any static if you know what I mean.
