A tribute to a lost folk custom. I found this out when I was looking through old photos of my parents in Washington state in 1962. Probably came there from Canada. Died out in mid-20th century. It started in European villages – probably thousands of years ago as doom and gloom guilt-hate party vs newlyweds who were doing something wrong (wife beater, widower marrying too soon, etc). In America is was turned into a positive pranky party, such as the bride being ridden around on a wheelbarrow. Massive drinking..
God, some traditions shouldn’t die.
