I hope Trump fails, and all that implies. If he succeeds in this, he will be emboldened to do more and more.
Let me be more explicit: For the sake of humanity, our planet, and our future, America needs to fail in Iran, as Russia has been in Ukraine.
I’m still happy Iran was attacked. It is an evil regime. But it is evil because we made it evil, beginning in 1953 when we replaced their democratically elected government. We have flirted with evil in the past, come centuries more than others, but today we are also an evil regime.
Furthermore, we are worse than Iran, as we have no excuse. We can’t blame that our noble Zoroastrian religion was replaced by Islam. We can’t blame that our area of the world became a backwater. Nay, American prosperity, culture, dumb luck, and democracy brought us where we are now.
And this is what we do – we throw it all in the toilet.
Everything is relative, and Trump is worse by an order of magnitude, especially given the math of turning a force of good in the world into a force of evil.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely, especially if you’re already thoroughly corrupt when you become the most powerful man alive.
We are the bad guys now, and I pray for our failure.
