Confirmed. It’s now live.
Tariffs on items bought on Amazon are now included with shipping and handling, and Prime doesn’t help any. Everyone will have that first moment of sticker shock, and it’s not going to fool anyone.
I thought that the fall of Roe v Wade would be so dystopian as to move the needle, but it didn’t. I wonder if significantly higher prices will. I hope that they do, but I’ve lost all faith in Americans being intelligent or even rational.
Not going to lessen the holocaust here, but it would be somewhat like in 1933 if the Germans voted in Hitler while the economy was booming, and not excruciatingly hyperinflationary. We have witnessed American exceptionalism at its worst, and we’re not even starving yet. Who knows how American will react to what’s coming? And Trump? I’m scared for our future.
In the same way that I never forgave Republicans for first nominating Trump in 2016, though I might forgive Americans in general for 2024, I’ll never really trust them again or have pride in country. While I will celebrate when Trump is gone (and you know it will be the party of parties dwarfing December 31, 1999), I’ll never be comfortable enough to be patriotic, ever again.
They’ve become thick as bricks, and are proving that a unipolar world, where America is the only superpower that can bully around peaceful countries, is a very bad idea for humanity’s future. Hopefully the EU can fill the vacuum, because if they don’t, China will.
