Proto Indo Europeans were the first to tame horses, and gave us most of our languages today. Their chariots dominated because bronze weapons were expensive – only a few could afford, and if those were in chariots, good game. Cheap iron, with its ability to arm masses of peasant warriors, changed the landscape and brought about the Bronze Age Collapse, wherein a roving band of Sea People wrecked everything in the Mediterranean except the Egyptians and became the Philistines in the Bible – Goliath.
