Dancing at Limelight again June 24 – Cancellation explanation

Updated 2 years ago

I deleted this page very quickly in early June, but it seems to still get a ton of traffic, probably from Twitter, I apologize. I didn’t want to leave people scrambling in the darkness for an answer, so rather than you seeing a 404 Error Page right now, I am putting this notice up.

Here is what I found out:

Update from Michael Musto on the canceled June 24th party at the old Limelight:
“A promoter curator that I know named Jason Chaos was doing the event with others. It was going to be a VIP thing for just 100 people, thus the $100 admission. (The flyer that inadvertently got leaked was a mockup, but the info was true–except for the QR code, which was something random because it was just a mockup). The investor working with a restaurant was angry about how the event was being overhyped and misrepresented, so they pulled out. They hadn’t expected the whole thing to go so viral and they were getting scared.
Publicist Lou Rom–who didn’t return my request for comment–had over-enthusiastically billed the event as more than it was, and had even mentioned something about “10,000 people”. He took down his announcement. And so, I guess we are not going to see “Disco 2021.”
Here is what Rom now says: “After major pushback by Community Board 5 and other community leaders, ownership has canceled the event.”
