You could title this Jungian archetype the Death of a Salesman. When every strength a politician had going for him – stubbornness, tenacity – becomes their tragic flaw weakness on their way down.
Without even hearing him speak, I love Teddy Roosevelt. I did read his speeches. Very eloquent and inspiring. You see his quotes regularly repeated. He was everything Trump was not – brave, thoughtful, progressive, and brilliant.
OTOH Trump’s speeches were horrible. I think of myself as a cerebral guy. They communicated nothing to me and spoke to ignorance and stupidity. I could see the lie in pretty much every sentence he was able to put together. Do you think his quotes (She had blood coming out of her whatever…. ) will ever be remembered in an uplifting, respectful way – or will they signify a dark period for our country?
This is why I went so hard against him. How could anyone be so naive as to adore this man, much less deem his fit to hold any office?
In a less civilized society (and I say that carefully) Teddy/Trump’s rivals would have taken them out the hard way so they wouldn’t spoil their chances at the next election.
But no, the GOP is stuck with him and his antics.
