STAR-X is the work of Eran and Gabi, the young rising stars of the Israeli brand of psytrance.  Eran began his early work as part of Visual Paradox.  In a short period of time, Star-X has released numerous tracks on various compilations around the world.  Last year’s widely anticipated release of their album “Prepare to Fly” has landed them gigs at many of world’s most prestigious open air festivals.  And they love the open air vibe; you can hear it in their music.  With a busy tour schedule and a long-term retreat to Costa Rica to concentrate on studio work, we are sure to hear this duo’s music and hear about their successes for years to come.  In anticipation of their performance in NYC this weekend, here is what they’ve shared with us today…

Where are you right now?
We live in Costa Rica for the last year… our studio is on the beach and we are working there on our new album… and surf sometimes when time allows…

To those who have never heard your music, how do you describe your sound?
We are influenced by lots of elements… we supply the dance floor the power and rhythm, and we bring the atmosphere and emotions to there… try to make a tribal feeling for the people…

How is your latest album, “Prepare to Fly” been received world-wide and what makes this CD different for you from the albums you produce as part of Visual Paradox?Prepare to Fly was the corner stone when u look for the direction of your style… it is ageless and u can enjoy it where ever u put it on… it has lots of air in the music… nice and clean production.

How do you like working in collaboration with each other?
We love collaboration cause it is like talking with the other without words… u bring your best things and also the other do it… try to combine the character of two people… I love it!!! It is always interesting.

What has your tour schedule been like? Any memorable events you have played at recently?
We have just came back from Tokyo… (played for Vision Quest), and also we were at the full moon festival in Germany… we are playing this Saturday in San Jose and then – NYC!! We will be in Mexicoon the 14th of august and playing at the gathering 2004 for the first time!! (the biggest festival in Japan). Then – Brazil… until November…

About the music you produce, how would you describe your creative process in writing the tracks?
We came to Costa Rica to look for a different vibe …our studio is 100m from the beach and we see the sunset everyday… (killer!!!!). Our window view towards the jungle and while we are working u can see iguanas, monkeys and lots of butterflies… that bring a new dimension to the music and it is much better than sit in the city between 4 walls… (for us of course…).

Have you gotten any new & exciting studio gear lately?  Or do you rely mostly on the PC, like a lot of today’s artists?
We use external gear like Nord Lead and Virus… we have Korg Wave Station… killer synth (old one) with killer analog warm sounds… when ever we need more, we go to our great friends and we have access for everything!! And, we use our new Dynaudio monitors for the last year and it makes our work much more exact and exciting…

Your tracks have been featured on several famous compilations… this played a significant role in your achievement of recognition with the world-wide trance community?
We believe that it is so important and u must be there always if you want to get ahead

Do you play a lot of unreleased material during your live sets, any tracks you are feeling out for possible future release?
We have some tracks for our new album and few that going to be released in future compilations… all over the world…  and it is nice to play unreleased music and bring new things for the people.

Imagine your ultimate dream performance… where and what kind of party would it be?Outdoors (of course…) with people from all over the world…  on a magical island on the beach… total freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What’s the “must hear” track of the moment for you right now?
I love our track ´´Flowter´´ that express a lot of our time here in Costa Rica…

How did you like the party when you played in New York last time?
It was nice and I hope to get the strong real NYC vibes… all the way!!

Finally, anything to say to the heads you’re about to rock?
In 3 words… PREPARE TO FLY!!!
