It’s been about 9 months since I blogged about site progress, but as we near the end of Year One, November has been particularly fruitful in behind-the-scenes activity, so I felt a need to take stock on where I’ve been and what’s to come.
-Lengthy Mayur and Mike Donahue Memorial listings written and most listings added to.
-In what was probably the site’s single biggest structural and optimization boost yet, Cloudflare was implemented and integrated into W3 Total Cache for a significant boost (~30%) in page loading speed and greatly increased site security. Very pleased with the results.
-Most static pages (but not posts) have been parallaxed (faux 3d backgrounds) for more engaging content
-Interviews, in addition to bespoke backgrounds, are now fully optimized for SEO
–Stereotypes and Trance Index features mostly complete; Recipes and Best TV Right Now playlist 100% complete
-In one massive undertaking , all interesting posts from Facebook since 2010 were integrated into WordPress posts
-James Kent’s Signal Theory of Psychedelics divided into standalone gallery for legibility
-Floating Menu (aka the Quick Menu) and Onesignal Notification UI elements reworked and optimized for mobile
-Updated to WordPress 5.3
-Many other small improvements
To be done: finishing Stereotypes and the Trance Index, completing the conspiracies section, integration of photos with Google Drive, list of companies that support psy research, recommended products, and many many stories.
Then, although this site will never really be finished, I will be done with the infrastructure. My goal has been to re-create the past but prepare for the future in a world class website that covers a very small but vital niche, and I see the completion of that goal in sight. And this time, unlike all the other times, time invested has a concrete and tangible fruition, unlike decades spent partying or gaming. And I have my Internet skills back. And when completed, the hard work will have been done from the comfort of my home in Texas.
Then I get back in action in New York.
