There is nothing more cringe-inducing than bringing politics (both Wokeness AND right-wing grievances) to comedy. It has an agenda, and that is not making you laugh. It will get your dick softer quicker than imagining your mom blowing your dad. Or your dad blowing your dad.
But the left leaners are objectively far worse, because the stereotype is an uppity liberal looking down their nose at your neanderthal ways, saying the climate is going to make our lives unbearable, etc is peak unfunny (even though they are right.)
At least Andrew Dice Clay was funny as a juvenile satire.
I guess the underlying message here is that as the Overton Window has shifted, the center-left in 2022 is more serious and adult, and adulthood is not funny.
Alex Jones is funny, in a crazy sort of way. The Young Turks is not funny.

Today’s funniest comedians are constantly getting in trouble for being canceled. Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr and, going back, Tosh.0 have been some of the funniest acts ever and the shrill Twitter mob doesn’t like that. Even John Stewart and Jerry Seinfeld are very wary of this troubling trend.
SNL sort of encapsulates this trend. Although Rob Schneider is a one-note hack (Makin’ copies!), he was right when he said Kate McKinnon’s Hillary singing Hallelujah was cringe-inducing. I know people were distraught – I sure was – and the way it all ended up on January 6 proved them right – but you could almost say Trump killed SNL for a while. You could almost apply Trump Derangement Syndrome here. Even South Park finally gave up on referencing Trump content.
Today, although Colin Jost and Michael Che’s trading un-PC jokes is a recent national treasure, the true gold is almost 50 years ago – legendary 70s SNL. It went to shit very fast in the 80s, climbed back in the late 80s/early 90s, and has wavered ever since:
