Skin color is admittedly only skin deep – evolutionarily speaking, the most transient and unimportant feature of the human race.
But I’ve always been curious as to the racial mosh pit that is the British Isles.
Modern DNA analysis is now showing it went from black to white in 4,500 years!
And after a few successive “almost replace the originals” one wonders how much of the really strange dark looks you sometimes get there (especially as you go west) are actually faint echoes of the Stonehenge builders and possibly before.
I made a VERY approximate timeline – always wanted to do this! This must all REALLY suck for modern day British white supremacists!
Race changes:
7,000 BC – Black, with blue or green eyes
4,000 BC – Olive skinned, from modern Turkey
2,500 BC – White Europeans

7K BCE- Dark skin, like an African’s; blue or green eyes
(~7.5K-4-5k BCE Indo European era)
6K – Somewhat paler people from modern day Turkey start spreading farming to Europe…
4K BCE – The “Turks” arrive in British Isles, almost replace hunter gatherers
3K BCE End of Mesolithic, beginning of Neolithic
3K – 2K BCE – Stonehenge proper built (but was holy site much earlier)
2.5K BCE – Mainland Europeans AKA “Bell beakers” almost replace the “Turks”
700 BCE – Celts
400 AD – Angles, Saxons
793-1066 – Scandinavians
