If you called Obama a big government spender and applaud today’s record deficits and debt as demonstrated by Rush Limbaugh recently, it was never really about fiscal conservatism.
If you are against helping the poor yet support handouts to the rich, companies being forced offshore due to tariffs and the erosion of free trade agreements, it was never really about fighting socialism.
If you want a wall but are against funding for election security as Mitch McConnell demonstrated recently, it was never really about protecting the country.
If you are against decriminalizing and legalizing marijuana yet support big pharma’s Oxycontin debacle, spreading opioid addiction on an unprecedented, industrial scale, it was never really about combating drug abuse.
If you are against abortion yet look the other way as children are forever ripped from their families only to disappear into a vast government bureaucracy, it was never about family values.
So, what was it all really about then?
Strip all the lies and bullshit rationalizations away, and If you squint you can see a common thread to all these, and it’s an oligarchic, authoritarian, white nationalist agenda, bankrupt morally and (possibly soon) literally, pushed upon an undereducated, resentful white working class, pissed they lost their privilege, conveniently spread over enough electoral college states to get a foot in the door and getting revenge on the uppity city slickers.
So much for draining the swamp.
