The beautiful palace was designed as an homage to Moorish/Oriental/Arab Revival architecture; the Moors/Muslims couldn’t depict human likeness so they got really elaborate with geometry, which were probably helped with psychedelics such as hashish. See more Islamic art with hundreds of examples.
