Coronovirus is here! Time to binge Stephen King’s 5 Hour Epic “The Stand” on Youtube
50 milllion of us will die, the economy is going to tank, Trump might lose his chances for re-election, which may be the Apocalyse for some… but I can’t help but remembering this adaptation high up in the King pantheon, right up there with Kubrick’s The Shining… but it’s not like it has much competition. I’ve seen it all the way through several times. Time to pass it on to others (cough)

Only beef I have is Molly Ringwald’s character’s pregancy is never explained (her high school boyfriend knocked her up!) and her nerdy creeper/stalker is too handsome. A truly obese, disgusting basement dweller would have been far more effective. And his liking disco was a cheap shot! Huey Lewis and the News woulda been better 😀
The series also drags a little in the middle, but once almost everyone is already dead from the plague, it really shifts gears.
Finally, the opening credits are silent; “Don’t Fear the Reaper” was removed to prevent a Youtube copyright takedown. But here it is!
And don’t forget, it’s getting a new miniseries coming soon from CBS All Access! King likes the script!
It has big shoes to fill. And I bet an unfolded Coronavirus will make it controversial, to say the least.
