Watch it/download it before Viacom removes it (again) and it’s obscure for years (again)
That’s me at 6:45.
Here’s the segment with just me:
My wild days. MTV True Life, 2000. I can laugh about it now, but man, I was really insane then. But I wouldn’t change a thing. The zeitgeist back then was spot on. I never go halfway. It couldn’t happen now, not in NYC, anyway. NYC was the perfect challenge, the ultimate immovable object, and it ended up winning.
Filmed at my apartment on 50th and 9th in Hell’s Kitchen in NYC. Similar segments of me and that apartment were on Discovery Channel, CBS 48 hours, and Dutch Public TV.
It even has Bob Wallace, the Microsoft co-founder, discussing Dancesafe.
Annnnnnd at 16:40 Lynn Smith (knew her from Twilo) who is shown looking at an MRI and a doctor saying “those are parts of your brain now missing” and went on to profit off of MDMA misinformation. I remember at the time, this was when people believed the discredited Ricaurte study where they jacked monkeys fulla meth to say E was bad, and thinking that her bf was a scumbag.
Now I realize just how wrong I was back then. Not about drugs. About the fake medical propaganda.
Here is a good story from back then that covers this era.
