Distorted Viewpoint was a Skate Zine based in Conroe, Texas in the mid ’80s: Issues #4 & 7

I just realized after speaking with my friend from growing up, Janice, that her house in Forest Hills was the one with a skate ramp, and I had taken photos that appeared in some local Conroe skate zines, which had I saved. And I even found her brother in one! I took the one shot of Steve Brand against the trees.
So I scanned my 2 copies of Distorted Viewpoint. It was published by Kevin Sink, and had “Squid” Edmunsen, Jay Isabell, Steve Brand, Steve Warren, Kevin Davis, Aaron Blueford, Gary Hales, Campbell Aurelias, Ken Boyer, Steve Elliot, Rachelle Abercrombie, Jeff Whitmore, Jolene Brister, Becky Webster, Lillian Moody, Wade Renard, Lisa Graham, Steve Cab, Gavin O’Brien, Tony Myers, Lorne DeLugin, and many others, most of whom I sadly lost contact with decades ago.
I was a punk and could do 360s like everyone else, but a terrible skater. Never did a half pipe. The most daring thing I ever did was skate down the humongous hill at Highland Hollow all the way down without pads or a helmet:

Really stupid. Two trenchcoat-wearing guys I was with – little mini-me’s, God bless them – lost their cool a quarter of the way down and faceplanted in the concrete and lost much of the skin on their hands. I raised my arms in victory at the end to an audience of two guys in major agony (and maybe you right now)
Some kid died skating that hill a year or two later. Glad we all survived.
