The House of Trance festival was a rained out fiasco, but HOT got an A for effort. It was sad that there was 3″ of mud everywhere you went (and it was impossible to stay warm and dry, like in WWI trenches) but ultimately uplifting to see everyone helping each other out, i.e. the Japanese kids who pushed everybody’s cars out of the mud, etc etc.
I wasn’t going to go to the Full Moon party because I got completely dissed by the guy who answered the phone at the House of Trance. When I asked him if he needed promo support or brain machines he replied that this festival was “No Joke.” Why are there always, always miscommunications and reports of asshole behavior there from so many people? I had hoped that all the old bad feelings that so many got from that potentially crucial store were gone, and we were having a fresh start. Maybe the redesign was just skin deep. And for $65 plus transportation I could party for a month in NYC. But I friend of mine went who needed to be rescued, and I’m never one to miss anything remotely tied to trance, I rented a car. If this was No Joke then the House of Trance is run by the Church of the Subgenius. I got there at about 5:30pm Saturday afternoon and there was at least 3″ of mud everywhere, and nonstop nonstop rain…. many people had had enough of the pounding rain and were leaving – it was like Venus in The Illustrated Man, nonstop Chinese water torture. There was no place, I mean no place other than a car where you could escape the cold water. Mosquitoes were everywhere. It was sad because if not for the rain it would have been an unbelievable experience. They did all they could, but there IS a remedy (keep reading) I really don’t know why they planned it so far out – 2 1/2 hours by my reckoning, and I drive really fast. We had a little private party in an abandoned cabin. The brainmachines were cool for a couple of seconds until I dropped the glasses in the muddy water. Oh well. But all in all, I’m very glad it was a disaster because I was able to rescue a certain young damsel in dis dress that was all muddy and fluoro. Also, the good part of everyone seemed to come out – all the Japanese guys were helping everybody whose car was stuck, Gary Toro was a gentleman helping everybody get drinks and food, etc etc. A Russian and Ukrainian got married by Lilu. Did anybody find a Space Tribe fluoro long sleeve shirt with a Greece pin on it? I understand that DJs have time-sensitive tickets, but I think the House of Trance should throw a payback party free of charge somewhere. Maybe under the bridge. I felt that everybody got ripped off by an Act of God, and that we deserve at least an OUTLAW this Friday!!! Come on guys, you lost no money but our collective scene got robbed!

very crazy concept party thrown at a gallery in SoHo called Alien. No, you don’t have to be tripping to come, but you *should* come, as there is a looot of preparation going on for this. It will be a blowout. (i would be doing a festival but the organizers are extremely difficult to work with, which doesn’t portend well IMHO)
The Alien LSD party was a tripped out success. Crowded though. Thanks to all who came.
Public Trancepercipitation Mon, 17 Jul Thanks to all who came and tripped out in dark Soho Friday night. Our League of Spiritual Discovery enjoyed our inAlienable rite to trip. Looks like the WEMFers had the biggest craziest weekend from early reports.
To: Alien l I didn’t have the time or the money to go to any of the festivals this weekend even though I would like to spend more time outdoors. On Friday night I went to Movement’s Alien l party. For some lapse of reason I decided to take I-95 instead of the Hutch. I-95 was hell. I left at 4:45 and arrived at E116 St. at 7:15. I was supposed to meet people in the Lower East Side at 6:00. I called. No answer. So I zipped down Second Avenue to 51st and cut across to Theatre District. After driving around for about a half hour, I found a space at W53rd and Broadway. So I ran down to Mars 2112. For those who don’t know, it’s this touristy theme restaurant that is supposed to look like Mars. There was a huge line, so I approached the young woman behind the concierge. She was wearing this tritely futuristic flight attendant’s uniform. After explaining my situation, she told me in a clipped British accent that I could go right through the “Jet Express Entrance.” It consisted of a metal door on hinges. After winding through several imitation rock tunnels, I luckily found my friends. I had an overpriced Chicken Caesar Salad and a bad martini. I really needed the martini. ago) and the animated series on Fox, perhaps I am a bit biased, but I thought it was excellent. Before I walked in, I had some reservations about the cast. They got an Australian to play Wolverine (sorry Andrei). While I find Halle Berry attractive, in the book, Storm is tall, proud, and arrogant looking. Anyway, despite an apparent shortage of tall African women and burly Canadian actors, they made it work. The film seemed to go by a bit too quickly. Yesterday, I read that they cut out 45 minutes. Still, everything was explained well enough for anyone without any previous two thumbs up. After re-parking my car, and walking around a bit, I arrived at the party sometime after midnight. It was on the 4th floor in a building in Soho. Even though I didn’t see a kitchen, I was under the impression that people lived there. It was hot and crowded with an attractive, albeit sweaty, crowd. There were lots of pretty women with sexy shoes. There were men in suits and women in dresses. There were folks in jeans and t-shirts. There was a woman in tiny metallic-silver shorts, a backless lace top, and platform canary-yellow flip-flops with faux fur straps. She was with a tall shirtless black man wearing gold chains, a cowboy hat, and a feather boa. Somehow, he still didn’t look gay. Speaking of gay, there were topless boys reeking of Vicks kissing each other, and women in sports jerseys wearing shoes that weren’t at all sexy. Even though there weren’t any candy ravers or fluoro freaks, it was a very diverse crowd. I like that. Not all the women were pretty. Dalit was there handing out flyers. I had a slight urge to swack her with a rolled-up newspaper, but fortunately, no such publication was available. As I was entering, people were hauling out equipment. On risers on the end of the room there were guitar amps and drum equipment. Apparently, there was some sort of live music before I got there. I had heard there was an open bar promotion by Skyy Vodka. Too bad the Russians missed it 🙂 There still was a bar, which I presume was selling drinks. There was also a small area with a table and couches curtained off with bubble wrap where people were inhaling mad nitrous dudes with faces scrunched up like trolls, their eyes half-open, sucking on huge balloons. For an Alien l party, it didn’t seem like many people were on acid. All I took were these two “Up Your Gas” herbal energy pills that kept me grooving for most of the night. From the time I arrived until Jeff went on, some guy with bleached-blonde hair was spinning progressive trance. Why do they call it “progressive trance”?? What’s so progressive about it?? They should call it “hackneyed trance” or “emotionally predictable trance” or “derivative techno.” Anyway, most of the crowd was into it. I’m not saying that it can’t be fun music, but let’s not kid ourselves with an ambitious name into thinking it’s somehow edgy. The sound system wasn’t good way too much treble and not enough bass. It sounded very harsh. I decided to wear earplugs. While sitting on a stool, a large projector came crashing down and suddenly landed about an inch from my foot. There was broken glass everywhere. Mojo seemed very upset. I had mixed feelings. On the one hand I felt bad that Mojo lost a piece of expensive equipment, otoh, I was glad I didn’t lose a &*%$ !! toe. Other than that, it was well decorated with odd sculptures and several projections. Although, I didn’t see an alien autopsy, or even the remains of an alien autopsy. Come to think of it, I didn’t see any aliens at all except Jeff’s outfit. Speaking of Jeff, he went on around 2 AM. He played a very diverse and creative cd set experimental to say the least. It was mostly psytrance, although it wasn’t as psychedelic as I would have expected from Jeff. Still, it was much much better than the set before him. I danced through most of his set, taking occasional breaks to stand in front of the fan. The high point was when Jeff played Hallucinogen’s “l” his hands outstretched, preaching to the crowd. After Jeff, Vadim started spinning vinyl. Honestly, I wasn’t impressed with his set, but I think that had a lot to do with the sound system, and that people kept bumping into the turntables. Psy-trance has more complexity and a wider bandwidth than house or techno it requires a system with breathing room. Unfortunately, the speakers were too tiny, and the amps were wheezing like an asthmatic chain-smoker. At 5 AM I decided to leave while I still had enough energy to transport myself. All in all, it was a good party. With a better PA it would have been a great party. Movement has their own mailing list, and Jeff posts their announcements on his Brainmachines list, so those are two ways you can find out about Movement events that have nothing to do with psy-trance. So how did H.O.T. and WEMF go??

July 21 Friday
Bridge Party!!! YEAH
Hey pre-operative trance sexuals, To celebrate the 500th member voluntarily subscribing/committing themselves to the online asylum known by some as Brainmachines, we will organize a BRIDGE PARTY. Here’s the kicker – it will be bankrolled completely not by Dancesage.org (but what a great idea) or Rudy Giuliani (even better) by an online membership fee and organized around a new list, “BridgeParty” . We ask for an advance donation of $15; donors will join the Board of Directors who will vote on, and receive information on, DJs, producers, artists, location and the date for the BRIDGE PARTY. Also there will be a special commemorative prize for all paying attendees. 😎 Votes will be performed online via polling on a new private email community. The great thing is, now that we are truly organizing, we can go absolutely fucking nuts. How much so is up to us. Two issues will be key – how do we promote this to non-paying members i.e. Israelis, debit/creditcard-less people, email-less homies, etc (I feel that word of mouth will take care of it all, but that is up to you). Also, the majority of the funds will go towards paying someone to get a car and pick up and return the generator (pickup Friday afternoon.) If you have a car or van and would like to be the generator pick up person – My hope is that we get 30 people paying $450, which will give us plenty to work with in terms of rentals and food, refreshment, nitrous (free or no? you decide), security, cleanup, etc. (and if we get enough dough MAYBE WE CAN EVEN GET GMS or KOXBOX aaaaaaaahh) This is organized crime!!! Yeah!!! 🙂 As next weekend is bare, I’m shooting for next Saturday, July 29. And your money will be refunded (via Paypal) if you end up not coming. Interested in participating? You need a credit or debit card. Click here. You will need my full name, and my email, Email me $15. Once you pay, I will manually add you on to the community. Once we get 30 members we will have enough to go ahead. The more members we get, the less we will have to raise for each upcoming party. So forward this to all of your friends. If this crashes and burns you will get your money and your karma back. But that would suck. We don’t want that! COME ON!!! I envision four bridge parties by the wintertime. Cheers, PS This ain’t a democracy. More like Peru run by Fujimori; we’ll have the appearance of an anarcho-syndicalist grassroots worker committee movement, but guess who will be the thought police. M.e.
RE: chaaaaaaaaarge !!!!!!!!!!
Mon, 24 Jul
lets all make some shit happen We are – where’s YOUR $15? You want to chaaaarge, then do it on paypal. You can’t get something for nothing. Otherwise, grab a jambox, a bag of weed, and run off to the park. I can’t believe that people will pay $25 to go to what they suspect will be a large undesirable party, yet not have the commitment to come together and pool a tiny pool of money to make a party. Seriously, folks, if you want a bridge party this weekend with the DJs you vote for (& maybe Dutch from SF) then get on the bridge party bandwagon. We’re still short, and it will take at least 20 of you to step up and pay with your debit or credit cards. If Tuesday rolls around and we’re not there yet, you will have to just tread the trance water for several weeks. And I will laugh at anyone who bitches rather than builds. All of you have paid a lot of money to Tsunami and many will complain; yet when offered a chance to stop being a consumer and becoming a producer you step back. Alphatrance throws the most intimate and vibesy parties and I don’t speak for them, but there’s no way they can carry through on what they want to do with the little money that they ask for. This is a test – to see how much you care about shaping your universe – to see if you are a visionary group of explorers, or a herd of cattle slurping off of the E trough. If we don’t get the support, the experiment is over and you will not hear from m.e. again, promise. Directions to get “on the bus” are at if we want change we got to all get together on this and stop waiting for the right people to come along to and hand us a good party… so tell me whats up
July 24 Monday
SDR&R RE: chaaaaaaaaarge !!!!!!!!!!
Hard charges: Generator rental, 5000kW, one day $80 Transportation back & forth to Queens$100 Deposit $200 Sound System Rental & transportation $200 Absolute minimum necessary $580 Number of members paying $15 necessary to raise $580 38 Current number of paying members: 18 Any money collected at the event itself will go to the next party Good to see you on Friday. I won’t rehash the obvious complaints that we all seem to share about the night. Let’s just say I share them, which brings me to my point. I like the Bridge Party idea a party “of the people, by the people & for the people”, but I have a few questions. At $15 a head, even a light turnout of 50 people would raise a cool $750. Assuming the DJ’s bring their own CDJs, mixers and music, all you really need is a generator, yea? So, they’re about $100 a night at worst. Where’s the rest of the dosh headed? Will you be paying the DJ’s (cos’ now that would make sense)? Don’t take this as a, “So, what’re you doing with the money smartass?” kinda letter. I’m just trying to make sense of it all before I part with my lunch money. Are there other costs I’m failing to factor?
How to Help Make it Happen
We need someone to buy water and cups in the night for a bridge party that might happen soon. And one to buy fruit in the morning. And one to clean up. Either way, you will waive the $15 membership fee. So we need three. remember when we had many bridge parties in NY? I think we can forget about them at least until we can find a way to finance them and make it worth it for the organizer. Faulty premise. Let me explain… the bridge was good for beginner enthusiastic organizer/DJ’s who wanted to play and made their own parties. Yep. We have a few of those spots out here… but if someone can rent a venue, charge donation and make it half legit. covering his costs- maybe even making a small profit- why would he spend his own money on a van and a generator, miss the party before- work his ass off and end up losing his own money? Because it’s a different vibe (club vs. outdoor renegade), a whole different gestalt, a different experience… so what happened this weekend? I know we talked about collecting donations- I didn’t see a jar. I thought about it the whole night but tripping makes me extremely unpractical. I’m sorry. I should have forced myself to collect money but I guess that’s not what I’m good for. I got there late though- did someone go around with a hat or something? We’ve tried a few things; I’m of the general mindset that donations for an outdoor are probably the most likely to be received on the way in or out, and not during… but… so how do we do it? any thoughts? how can we through outlaw parties in public places and charge people money to get in? Potentially faulty premise…. You ask “how can we through outlaw parties in public places and charge people money to get in?” I say that’s not the question; the question is “how can we throw outlaw parties in public places and NOT charge people money to get in, without burning out or draining money from the organizer(s)?” …to that, there are several ways to answer from several directions: – Pool sound resources from within the scene and attendees so as to not have to rent sound gear (usu. very possible) – Find the construction stores that have low-rent generators for a Sat aft / Mon AM rental (not a big cost anyway, but worth trying) – “Distribute the workload” try to have a good number of people to help with setup, and have KNOWN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES for said people during the evening and night – Keep the setup crew from having to be the cleanup crew; beg, borrow and plead to have a few people (generally the type who show up at 2 or 3am, and/or the really responsible folks) who have NOT been up since the LAST 6am to help with cleanup… – Buy large water vessels (2.5 gallon spigot-feed cartons) and ask people to bring cups. (you will still need to supply many of them). [One idea here is to have good, cheap water (a lot of stores now have dispensers for like .20 cents/gallon; if you have good water from your faucet (NON-NYC residents), go with it!… with this water, bring a bunch of cheap cups, enough for everyone… make sure this is all visible… then, for those who want their own pleasing bottle of fresh Evian, fine, $2/bottle, which helps to defray other costs. We have yet to do this, and I don’t know if we will, but it seems like a neat way to satisfy everyone…] – Find DJ’s who will play for free (or, if there is cost associated with their set (transportation/equipment/etc), then at or close to the level of expenses). I probably offended a bunch of DJ’s, but hey, if we’re talking about a FREE party where the organizers are providing free water, fruit, chai, etc., then this is the way I see it… if we’re talking about a ‘name’ act, then that can be a different story… – Buy inexpensive bulk food items, such as a LARGE crate of oranges ($30 – $35 sometimes, depending on season), or bananas, or *the best healthy item that would appeal to a bunch of freaks at 4am that is in season for a reasonable price*. We found clementines once. Yes. 🙂 Watermelon is *messy* but amazingly appealing for sweetness and hydration properties at, say, 7am. Place these items on a large table, and occasionally walk an armful out through the crowd for people to grab from… this is not a place to try and charge $$. – Find people with similar values who are willing to put up with the time, effort, and energy required to realize these goals. These people come from ALL walks of life, and at surface may not seem to have a lot in common. Probe deeper. Then smile. 🙂 Hopefully, these tips help…. and other ideas are always welcome 🙂 Be well! I’ve enjoyed your very visceral party reviews in the past; keep the first-person reports flowing! Actually, there was one and quite a number of people chipped in moneywise, I believe. There was even one enthusiastic person who came up to me BEFORE we got the collection jar going and asked me who’s paid for and set up all the stuff and gave me a $20, saying that he is having the time of his life and was generally very very nice. A few thoughts on the topic: Throwing a DIY party is not very expensive by any means, especially if you already have the gear or can find it for free (and if you have a vast enough network of “friends of friends”, it’s not really hard). It *is* somewhat time-consuming and logistically challenging, though, but given enough motivated people, it’s a no-brainer. It’s all about motivation and participation if everyone does a tiny part (like taking one’s own garbage back from the park… come on folks, I’m totally cool with carrying the damn sound system on my back up and down those dark stairs, but I’m really not cool with picking up somebody else’s trash) anyway… sorry for the rant… where was I. Oh yeah – motivation and participation. Personally, I’ve noticed that some of the best times I’ve had were at parties which I helped with in one way or another… there’s just a certain feeling of achievement and pride in what I’m doing to bring everyone’s experience up one notch. So, the next time somebody offers to throw a bridge party – offer your help! I mean, it’s nice to come to the park and find the sound system already alive and kicking’, but it’s even more exciting to see the party happen from ground zero, right in front of your own eyes. And yes, having separate setup and cleanup crews is essential – I was practically dead by the time the music stopped, and all I was able to do is grab my CDJs and headphones and “drag my tortured, withered body” to the train station. I felt sort of guilty for not sticking around and helping with the cleanup, but I probably wouldn’t have been much help with that, anyway.

Any donations at the party will go towards future events. One more thing you can do to help. Everybody take a little extra effort to bring someone new. Attached is a flyer for the party. Give to all your friends do not have email. Of course, make sure it does not fall into the wrong hands. Do not leave a stack at House of Trance. But everybody call your favorite Israeli. WHY ARE WE BUYING WATER The reason I want to buy a LOT of water is that we don’t want traffic up the hill – that’s where the cops can see a lot of weird-looking white kids in the hood. That, more than a fire dancer under the arch is bound to get us busted. So there. Bring it all with you, enough so that you don’t need to make beer runs or whatever. We’ll revisit this next party. 8. WHAT YOU CONSUME DJs don’t consume anything during a performance. The fire dancer people use a lot of materials in their performance, it’s not just sticking your sock in a gas tank and lighting it up and sticking on a wet hairnet. ASYLUM 9. Thanks to everyone for the biggest (and *best* believe it or not) bridge party to date. It was a group effort. The place was trashed, but within 5 minutes it was spotless… amazing. And the only problem was that a Russian friend of my girlfriend’s drank too much GHB… I guess he is a member of the KGHB now. If anybody wants a link to get 25 megs of free 100% secure disc drive space on the Internet, with an optional Windows Explorer interface for your PC or Mac, reply to this email and I’ll send you a link. It’s cool because no matter where you are at, you will have a backup for your most precious files. Plus you’re not tied to a single computer.

Trance Sexual Security can kiss my butt Kiovanna Rodriguez kr185 at Columbia spoke with the head of security after the party, and I was told that it was the promoter decided at what time the party finished, and that it could have gone until 6am if he had arranged that in advance. Moreover, I was told that the bottom level could have been utilized for that party if the promoter had made arrangements. Who is this Mike guy anyways? Peace Kiovanna
Security can kiss my butt!
I heard you got thrown out of Mike’s party. What happened?? the big security guys mistakenly thought I was selling somebody something ( I was soliciting funds for bridgeparty), got kicked out, went home, astrid made me a disguise w/mustache and beard, slicked my hair back Hitler style, wore glasses and suit, got a limo ride from a doctor friend and got back into the party, tried to buy girls drinks, had a good time, then out on the street struck up a funny conversation with security when they were kicking everybody out after they closed early – you should have seen the look on their faces, you could hear their jaws hit the pavement – then I ran down the street screaming I GOT YOU MOTHERFUCKERS

Review – Thank you sisters and brothers The most common words I heard was spiritual peaceful and intimate Even though we all through a megabridgeparty two weeks ago This time the worldy goal was quality over quantity and we achieved this goal, especially earlier on… me personally? I did not wish to do yet another “trance party” I wanted something more spiritual.. and for a while, I think we got it. I came on, even though Astrid was not there yet, to get things moving to set a tone. I played everything from monks chanting to GMS to Dead Can Dance to U2’s Unforgettable Fire. I was pretty tired and cracked out for not sleeping for 3 days. and then James from deeper in zen came on – koan (James horine) played what I consider to be the best set of the evening. there was a weird new organic glow to everything he did – he made an effort to incorporate a theme into his music and not just blast it out. I don’t know if it was his music, the outfits, the bubbles everwhere, the visuals, or ST. Timothy, but I was in another dimension for an hour. While Koan was on I was in a Trance. I hereby recommend that Koan becomes a resident DJ. It would be difficult to put up for a vote because he played from around midnight to 1:30am Yoshik (Alex) Kife (Vlad) Indra (Gosha) kept everyone stomping throughout the night. David West came with a Boston contingent and played Hallucigen and Brown Eyed Girl.
Yon-E was supposed to make it and play with Jason of SubtleChaos but he was unable to. The system we now have for DJs is, I fell, as fair as it can possibly get. People were hugging trees There were some people wandering around the intersection looking for a physical church With a smaller, more refined attendance I can honestly say that there were no undesirables or ugly people there We created a small fire Those were the wordly goals The spiritual goals were to take familiar elements (DJs, sound system, lights, people, location) and weave them into a tapestry made of astral thread, so that everything would be perceived in a different light. I truly felt that we had gone higher than ever before. Thanks Thank you Dan D Raver for showing us where to buy the generator Thank you for watching the generator and being the sober voice of reason Thanks to all who brought refreshments Thank you Alex and Elen and DNA Dan and Michael Johnson and Astrid and Stina for getting everything out of storage by the deadline Thank you all for helping us move everything down the hill and back up afterward Thanks to Gideon for bringing fruit Thank you Boston tribalists for making a pilgrimage Thanks to Mojo and Jamie for bringing Nitrous and projectors and the bubble machine – I am so glad we had nitrous for this event and not at the mega Bridgeparty Thanks to the fire dancers who came Thanks to those who put up with the village idiot, the shirtless drunken tripping Irishman. He is banned for three months from any church of trance festivities. Thanks to Yivgeni for walking around smiling alive’ Thanks to the NYPD for walking up, looking around a little confusedly, surprisingly, with a little smirk, going around the party a bit, and then LEAVING! (They had followed two people into the park thinking they were going to buy ds. They walked right into our service. Miraculously, they were fine with it. I gave them a million-dollar bill.) Thanks to the guy with the Didgeridoo Thanks to everyone who endured the bullshit getting there, but I hope you’ll agree that it was worth the labyrinthine Byzantine shell game. We survived. I vote that we continue on this direction. It feels right. I hope to somebody to be completely serving you and our community 100%. I want to be the guy who lives in the church, drives the church van with the church generator and church sound system organizing the church trance events. I want to be able to have us get married in our own church. This shoe is becoming a better and better fit. How to join the Church of Trance You’re missing a spiritual movement rooted in wilderness trance on the island of Manhattan… To get info on the Church of Trance, and vote on how we celebrate spiritual ecstacy through trance dance, and when, where and who will DJ, click web secure.paypal.x/refer/paljeff%40brainmachines and send $15 to, You’ll be added to a special email community list.
I wanna thank YOU! Not only was the congregation an incredible experience, but the events leading up to the mass seems like the things that movies, books, and legends are made of. YOU are incredible. The running around in Jersey, the moving of the equipment from 5 flights up in a warehouse to the van, the guy from Brooklyn with the cellphone, the rain, the mud, the moving of the equipment, was all an experience I know that I won’t forget, and in the future, look forward to again. The donation of the generator, I hope, will be a start. Soon, we’ll have our own sound system plus. Maybe one day we can get a church to party at. THAT would be something. Jeff, DNA Dan, Alex, Mike the therapist, the lovely ladies who were piled into the van, and everyone who made this happen, I’m looking forward to our next sermon. Dan
[ChurchofTrance] NYPD: CoT 1.0 Review Thanks to the NYPD for walking up in the morning, looking around a little confusedly at all the dancers and banging trance, surprisingly, then with a little smirk, going around the party a bit, and then LEAVING! (They had followed two people into the park thinking they were going to buy ds. They walked right into our service. Miraculously, they were fine with it. I gave them a million dollar bill.) Exactly at that moment, I was spinning and Aleks came to me and asked for CD. Following conversation: – What for? – I want to give it to somebody. Do you have a copy? – Yes I have a copy of Logic Bomb “Hardware”. Who do you want to give it ?? – Some cops.. – at There is a cop over there, he doesn’t want to leave until he gets a CD with ‘this kind of music’ – Stop kidding me, wtf?? … and so on … So, I hope the dude will enjoy Logic Bomb – album is great :o) I pretty sure he has also some confiscated dope – let him a great time as he let us. An Open Letter to House of Trance
No response from HOT from this message, nor from my other emails to that address. So here is the original text: To Ely from Jeff Nice party. Thank you for bringing Goa Gil to New York. For that alone you have done the unprecedented. Thank you for trusting me by letting this caton benzona in. I know I like to get carried away, and maybe unintentionally cause trouble for more responsible trance people. This is a great opportunity to solidify your place in bringing the true trance experience to the U.S. and show Americans what it is all about. All in all, it was a nice experience. I understand where you have been taking this, now. You have been through a lot of hard times with the store in the past but now stand to see the fruits of your labor. It is good to see people chipping in to promote your events. We can unite, and help you go to the next level if you want, with additional manpower and help – if you want it. Yet there is some unfinished business to take care of before your kundalini can shoot straight up your spine. Someone should apologize to Uri and Dhea at web magick-circle. 718-462-6299 They got permission from Ely at HOT to bring juice makers and do yoga and massage. Urio physically came into the store last week. They are very wonderful and spiritual people. When they came to the HOT event and began setting up, they were rudely accosted and were threatened with expulsion by several HOT employees, and from I heard, Ely did nothing and everyone at HOT acted like Uri HAD NOT GONE IN to the HOT to get permission. They were treated like dirt. These two people were not just random New Agers. They are well esconced in the local psytrance scene and are very respected. A lot of people found this out. They did NOT have to be treated with a lack of respect like they did. With all the work you did to make the experience wonderful out in the forest, you risk damaging the goodwill that you have created. I can understand if you do not want other people to take part in your vision, even if it involves bringing fruits to a trance party where you are selling hot dogs and hamburgers to a bunch of vegetarians. The salad and everything were great, BTW. I love red meat, and thanks for the chai and popsicles too. I respect what you are doing. But if someone gets permission to bring fruits etc, and you give them permission, why were the people such assholes to them? My theory is that they talked to the OTHER Eli not Ely or however your names might be different. I say this to help you in the future, because right now all these issues are going around 1500 email boxes, on my two email list of 650 new york trance people and mark’s list of 1000 North American trance people. Your event was the best outdoor festival ever held in New York. For this reason alone I want HOT to be bad karma-free. I want to be able to freely support you in all of your endeavors. I understand that there has been an accusation of Alex of Alphatrance stealing a minidisc player from Ely. I tell you, I have worked very closely with Alex for years and he would NEVER EVER EVER EVER steal anything. He is extremely honest and sincere. I stand behind him 100%. And this accusation made for a rift between the two largest trance groups in New York, the Israelis and the Russians, that has *never* healed. Nevertheless all the Russians and Israelis had a beautiful time together. As for my old roomate/your ex-employee Lisa and you know Dave, and the bad blood with the physical threat and money, I will perhaps too optimistically write that off to an Acid Physyx debt with Gula and Marco. I may be wrong on this. Whatever. It is not my intention to sow discord hear, just heal wounds and bring us all together. I wish Gula and Marco would have been here to see Goa Gil. We all saw him in Burning Man two years ago. My point is, you have the potential for being a rallying point for trance in New York. But there are still fences to be mended. I wish you the best of luck. I myself have hurt people with a cheap airline ticket scam, but I am doing my best to make it OK again by going to the authorities. None of us are perfect. When you are trying to make the impossible happen, it is hard to accommodate everyone. Everybody wants something, and your time is limited, and you are stressed about the weather and the media and the police and the whole “caton benzona“s in the local scene here. I’ve thought a lot about it, really. Maybe it is an Israeli/American cultural miscommunication we have. We Americans are not out to get you guys. You have no reason to be paranoid. We are not agents of Arafat. Thank you for helping bring everybody together. God bless you and I wish you the best and look forward to the next. Please respond. Thanks. This space is about to be bought by a bunch of yuppies, so this is the last hurrah for anarchic psychedelic rebellion. The timing is too short for the Devotional Ministry of Trance to be involved, as we would have to vote on everybody and if we would do it, but the spirit will be the same. That, and all proceeds are not going into the d’s treasury. Some, but not all. But come, it should be wild and spiritual and will be a day service for a change. “Welcome to our Historic Neighborhood! The location where Jimi Hendrix built the Electric Lady sound studios; Where Barbra Streisand debuted at the Bon Soir and where Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney founded the Whitney Museum and Andy Warhol and Lou Reed created the citadel of Hippiedom at the Electric Circus on St Marks Place.”
The Return of Vadim from Israel – Jason & Vadim of SubtleChaos will be joining Koan of Deeper in Zen and Machinelf this Sunday at the old Electric Circus on at 23 St Marks, 8am-5pm, psytrance kicks in 12:30pm-5pm, $10. This is NOT a Devotional Ministry of Trance event, not the DMT, but maybe you could say it is inspired by DMT and the DMT. And N, N-DMT, too. A lot of us will be tripping balls on holy water, though, and if you do not approve of that you really have no business there 😉
Astrid and I joked about the Yeast Infected Mushroom Village People amd got into trouble as someone gave us heroin in Tompkins Square and rolled out a carpet for us.
August 31 Thursday
23 St. Marks
TONIGHT! There is a 50% chance that I will help organize another party at the old Electric Circus space at 23 St. Marks upstairs, TONIGHT, Thursday. $10. The space is unbelievable, you can FEEL the volumes of psychedelics done in this space… the sound and acoustics, excellent. Last Sunday some people thought it was 9pm-5am not 9am-5pm. Stay tuned… an email will go out around 5pm, or call the info line after 7pm. Also, if you are a local psytrance DJ call me privately if you would like to play. Bring CDs. This was the original psychedelic discotheque in the 60s started by Andy Warhol and Lou Reed. It is an impressive, well-kept-up location. Tonight is the last night that it will be in the community’s hands. It’s getting torn down by to make way for private housing, i.e. my guess is CONDOS for YUPPIES
Info on a party tonight us…. Shady details but it will be from 9-12. There will be video projections and such. I am saying this not because we are involved, which we are not, but because there is NOTHING ELSE IN MANHATTAN until Tsunami Sunday, and even the downstairs space where we will be is a cool setup. But it may be chill, so get there right at 9 and do not dose until you get the vibe. And if you do be prepared to be on the street at midnight with a lot of other trippers. 23 St. Marks downstairs 9pm-12am. Thursday, TONIGHT. I don’t know who is throwing down tonight, but it will be a good idea to come not going to Burning Man as we had planned. P.S. As we are not responsible for this event, do not blame me if it is not 100% cool, esp. if you missed Sunday, which we in fact were behind. I am sick of low-level low involvement weekend warriors who are Consumers above all… don’t ever be one of them…

The cops keep telling us it sound better in New Jersey than next to the speakers lol . We tried to keep it until the morning. Cause it was in the plan but the cops made us close it – Yani
Scott took me and all I could take in was that I found my people….And then we climbed out and were dancing on the awning over the river with no railing….and kept getting back down and back up cuz we didn’t know if we were told to come down or just tripping out that someone might have told us to get down. Hahahah – Turned out that yes….some authority persons had told us to get down…. Kailey

I will give you the location only when I receive the donation. Join the d list to get info on the Devotional Ministry of Trance, and vote on how we celebrate spiritual enlightenment though communal trance dance, and when, where and who will DJ. SATURDAY AFTERNOON 5PM-10PM FREE so it was raining the last time I tried and I came late just to make sure nobody was waiting for nothing. now that we have our little poi delegation back from boom and maybe also our friends that went to burning man- I suggest another try- let’s say this Thursday starting 5 pm. same place- by the big tree and the rock (see directions below). bring your water, fruit, poi, whatever. again- I’ll wait on top of the west staircase at 5pm if you don’t trust the directions. we had a little circus there yesterday and I think this thing has a good potential. hope to see some of you there. love gideon -directions: enter the park from 72nd st (east or west) and follow the main cross park road till you see the big balcony overlooking the sprinkler thing north of you (on your left coming from west, on your right coming from east). walk to the balcony. you should see the sprinkler below you and the lake just beyond it to the north. behind you is the roller-blading/dancing area. the “tree” is on the little hill on your left. not the lowest little slope above the drum circle but the hill one level above it. it sounds confusing but I think it’s pretty easy to find. plus- the poi should be pretty visible.
Same place as last time – bring water and some donation$ or don’t come at all – see you at 11pm
Spiritual Celebration Tonight The Devotional Ministry of Trance will be throwing an outdoor festival tonight in the woods at an undisclosed location. There will be a huge sound system and will go from 10pm-10am. The vibe will be unprecedented. If you like the last one better than the one before, you should like this one better in the same proportion. If you would like directions, please join our Ministry. Follow the link below. If you do not have a VISA, call 212-445-0364 and leave your number so we can meet up and I can get your donation. All members of the Ministry will have full member privileges including the right to vote for DJs and special congregation only consideration at future events.

feedback on the gatherings Hello beautiful people lucky enough to have found your way to this list of enlightenment. I just wanted to say that the d gathering on Saturday night was truly amazing. EVERYTHING EMANATED DIVINE GRACE… the music, the people, the visuals, the energy, the weather, the love. I was absolutely impressed, as were other Trance party promoters/producers that stopped by the temple. The music was better than any of the commercial trance parties of paid my way into over the past few months. I went to Burning Man this year and I can honestly say that the Jeff and the d visionaries have recreated the sacred burning man energy that lifts all involved to a blissful realm of pure light and love. To all of you brainmachiners that are still hesitating to join our family, if the only thing holding you back is the one time $15.00 donation, I HIGHLY recommend that you make the “sacrifice” (skip those three drinks at the bar this week, or one dinner outing) and start enjoying the benefits of our spiritual/entertainment venture where all participate in the process. I was one of the first to donate back in July- it was so simple for me… even if I couldn’t make it to any of the parties- I knew that I was contributing to a worthy cause, and that what I gave would come back to me 10 time over… as per the law of cause and effect, i.e. karma. I was out of town most of the summer, but I knew that those $15.00 would help make a lot of people happy- and create an atmosphere for newcomers to experience the trance in the best way… FREE and in NATURE. so- I hope to see you at the next event! feel free to call me if you have any questions or want to get more feedback regarding my experience with the d gatherings. 917-586-4007 Bom, Kiovanna
If you want to DJ at the best outdoor trance events… If you want to DJ at an outdoor trance event, join the Devotional Ministry of Trance. Instructions follow. We vote for who will DJ for every service we have. We have had four in the past two months. Once you join you will be able to enter in your personal DJ information and will be able to be contacted should you win the poll. Each event has five DJs on average. No one gets paid as these are free events for those in the Ministry. Featured DJs have included Dutch from San Francisco, Kri from North Carolina, Alex, Gosha, Mike FX from Alphatrance, Kife, Subtle Chaos, Ranka, m.e., Sequential Tom, DJ Hi-Fi Princess, Dave West, and Rob Ixom. A final note: each member of the DMT gets one vote, and every time the five DJs who have been voted on win by three votes – so get your friends to join also and get a voting bloc going!
Explanation of the lists The brainmachines list grows by myself handing out million dollar bills to people that are interested in brain machines. Many people have gotten into the local NYC trance scene because of the list, including Alphatrance events, MAX. The d list grows by trance heads donating $15. I manually subscribe them after I receive $15 via Paypal. If someone has done a lot for the local scene I added them on, for free. In my perspective, those added for free have no reason to complain. The police officer in question likes what we do and used to own a techno club in Brooklyn. He originally popped up at the last d service when he saw two people going into the park, he followed them in and came upon us, and again, let us continue. He got a Logic Bomb CD. At the event last Friday he just hung back and kept to himself and only went into action when the idiot who was obnoxiously going around to everybody soliciting selling E went up to the cop. I am GLAD that asshole got arrested. Anyone who wanders around spelling out the letters of the alphabet deserves to go to jail. I don’t know about any of you, but I have gotten a pretty negative view of ANYONE who goes around selling ds at ANY event. It kills the vibe regardless of who does it, and if it is ever done in plain view at a d event I will work to stop it. This is RELIGION. Please get yourself sorted before coming to the service. These events are not and will not ever become open-air drug markets. We have too much to lose. And BTW, the police officer did not come back after he arrested the obnoxious d dealer. We have an extra level of security at the bridge events. I am taking a sabbatical for a while. This will give us time to get more paying members.
Note on lists I hope this clears everything up. The DMT list costs $15 to join. It is a religious group dedicated to organizing outdoor trance events. They vote online for who will DJ. If Brainmachines list is a free for all as you say Max, it was created from scratch, member by member. No one could find out about it except through word of mouth. There has never been an event busted by the police except for one for noise two years ago called Dopamine Detergent. I have promoted probably hundreds of events on the brainmachines list and there have never been identifiable miscreants. Well, one, and he was removed. The PsyTrance list originally came from a bunch of emails collected at Tsunami events. Many people hated the crowd at Tsunami events. I’ll let you finish the syllogism. Why don’t you go up to the most undesirable people at any event you see and ask them how they found out about the event, rather than pointing fingers? The plain truth is, most of the trance people are Israeli, and very few Israelis have emails. So the fact that brainmachines has 603 members in the local NYC area and PsyTrance has 200 nationwide should tell you that there will be a lot more individuals on the brainmachines list who only rarely make it to events. But that does not make them any more or less desirable. Believe me, coming from someone who attends 98% of all trance events in NYC, the vast majority of trance fanatics attend 20-30% of all events, tops. There are cliques, there are weekend warriors from all lists. I’m pretty much resigned to the fact that there will never ever be a unified scene as long as we are homo sapiens. Oh, occasionally at Synthetic Saddhus, when we aren’t getting groped by security, or at when the sound is working, can hundreds upon hundreds of us feel as one.

Well, it was my first alphatrance party on Friday, and I must say it was very nice.. of course, I always love Gosha’s sets.. the beginning of his set, in particular, was amazing, as was the end of Ranka’s set so it was a wonderful span of music.. the only flaw was the arrival of the police at the end.. hopefully, this will not interfere with future alpha parties at this location… It was a different vibe than I expected but very intimate, interesting to say the least.. if one were to analogize the ny(nj) parties with film, I think this is how it would be: Alphatrance – german mind-art film (ala Wim Wenders) DMT – underground 8mm sci-fi/cyberpunk film but with a peaceful happy ending (see directions to join at bottom of page) Tsunami – Hollywood Action Film Synthetic Sadhus – Hollywood Sci-Fi

The Israliens have approached the Devotional Ministry of Trance to produce a Rosh Hashanah celebration for Saturday night. They want Trance. As they are impecunious but eager, manpower and warm bodies are not a problem. A little bit of money is. If you would like to attend, we are trying to raise money to make it happen. Any amount would help. We need about $400 for the sound and the space. Hypothetically, if everyone on this list sent in a DOLLAR we could do it. This will be done on absolute shoestrings; I am broke and they have no money to front, the bastards. I’m sorry that I have to ask everybody to pitch in, but if you have ever attended one of the d events you know they are a world apart. Please help us in our endeavor. It will be a free celebration. All donors will be invited. Details will not be sent on this list for security reasons. Gentiles, Muslims, everyone is welcome. As there is really nothing else going on this weekend, this would be prime. If you are interested in helping to make this happen, please send a donation to the Devotional Ministry of Trance following the instructions below. If you donate $15 you will be a permanent member of the Ministry and get info on all events. (If enough funds are not raised there will be no celebration)

October 8 Sunday
Indian Summer Yesterday after a two-day fast and abstention from smoke and drink, at a beautiful mansion out in the Long Island countryside I joined in an ayahuasca ceremony with 15 others and guided by Terrence McKenna’s Brazillian Indian shaman Jose Campo. I was completely taken care of the entire day. By the humans, at least, I was pampered and nurtured. The spirits though had a go with me. It was beautiful, frightening, and spiritually cleansing. I learned to better let go of my ego, and I didn’t do it willingly. The brew itself is a complex mixture of roots vines and herbs with a powerful beautiful taste. Aside from the robots having sex, sometimes with me, and the reptilian gladiator Centurions with the winged algae jungle goddesses that entered the room, I felt my ego stripped away piece by piece until I was in a fetal position, nose and eyes running, my eyes all the way in the back of my head, in complete terror that I will not make it back. But the shaman kept me sitting straight and focused on breathing. His voice, singing ancient songs and playing a variety of instruments, was a reassurance that we were all in this together. He guided us on a spiritual journey together. For about four hours, every ten minutes I was visited by a new set of indescribably visually complex spirits made out of quantum machinery and plants and animals. Sometimes they would enter my body and I would seize up until I let go. As it got very intense, and the entities became sharper and more wrapped around me, I would cough up some ayahuasca. Afterward, we had an elaborate meal of soup and bread, chickpea salad, eggplant vegetable casserole, strawberries, watermelons, and tea. I was driven home and slipped into a beautiful sleep. Ayahuasca contains d and Harmaline, an MAO inhibitor that makes it possible to orally ingest the d. Because it is something you drink, it is impossible to not do it right. But you are in for the duration, and I cannot recommend it to everyone. This is not a “d” that will get you “fucked up.” This is a powerful life-changing experience, a reaffirmation of the potential for human dignity. Please do not forward this email to anyone… the last thing I need in my life right now is a deluge of people wanting to exchange $300 for apotheosis. But I would highly recommend this ritual to you if you are spiritually ready and if the opportunity ever presents itself. The shaman has left the building for the time being. But the best way to make this happen is to NOT depend on me or this list to keep you in the loop. You will have to discover it for yourself as the journey is the destination. Get on the web and educate yourself if you are so inclined. A plug: A good start locally is to join the Devotional Ministry of Trance, instructions below. We are only $800 away from our sound system and need 53 of you to join. Good luck.

Hope everybody had fun at Synthetic Sadhus. It was weird, though, experiencing an evening of techno at a trance party – nothing rave about it. Wow, what an inside out flip flop. I know, it was Scandinavian minimalist psytrance, but still. I boycotted the afterparty b/c I couldn’t bring anybody
Subjective Sawdust Review
The Swedynthetic Sadus rowed their boats over the big ocean, and when put back to back, created a weird cold gestalt deprived of emotion. Which, considering my mood, fit perfectly. Some raver kids thought it was a little off musically, and I couldn’t help but agree somewhat, as in, the DJs kept missing the beats and at least twice I heard the Cdmtskip. Maybe it was their CD players? Does skill matter more than spirit? I think not, but to sustain a trancelike state requires no interruption. I think the sound at Amazura has improved, but maybe it was the AMT. I thought it was more Art than a dance party, a great environment if you don’t dance all crazy like an Israeli. I kept waiting for a big blowup and it never came. Kind of like going out with a girl who never gives it to you. None of that Israeli melodic victory climax, just schtup schtup schtup schtup against a wall of sound. Arrrrgh the frustration. So when missing the body chakras, you retreat to the machine. It was one of the best techno parties I have been to. Everyone seemed to go into a mechanical trance state. The people on E missed out in such a cold environment and wandered in a desert of bogus ideologies. At the close, the SS people gave out free fruit. Some BTS guys were there fitting into the crowd(!). No one got anything solen that I knew of. No one got beaten up either. There was some freak dressed in a Viking helmet in a black and red robe with a scimitar made of bone and teeth and a gothic machine gun, and was holding a dripping, beating heart and shooting a hypo labeled Ketalar into his neck and the beating heart, yelling Death to Ego. He got into it with a subway preacher on the way home. Gideon and a bunch of people went to Washington Square afterward, I boycotted the DJ afterparty because I couldn’t bring anyone. Doron brought four new people. There were a LOT of new people there. After the party, a couple of jets spelled out the letter X in the sky. I felt like I was back in some twisted Electric Company. William Burroughs said it best … “yesterday they called it coincidence, today they call it synchronicity, tomorrow they’ll call it skill…” Before that we taped a segment for CBS 48 hours at one of our houses on PIKHAL… everyone did a great job, the hippy, the ravers, the interracial couple, and the trance head. Oh, yeah, the DMT almost has their fucking sound system!! And we haven’t alienated *too* many people in our mad rush to make it happen. Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen – we will definitely get our money’s worth out of the speakers for years to come and ears to drum. This is only the end of the beginning.

Zev Gilad’s Party
I’ll def. be there tonight Hey Jeff, We’re having a party to (a) celebrate the launch of PAUL JEANS, my wife Sheli’s new line of designer jeans; and (b) to celebrate our marriage. Live DJs (including yours truly) will provide ample sonic entertainment. Wear 80s clothing for visual entertainment. The festivities will be held from 8pm until real late at night, on Monday, October 16,, at Astor Restaurant & Bar (which I think has changed its name to something stupid), which is at Bowery & Bleecker, in the downstairs lounge. Good food and drink will be available for consumption. Bring whomever you like (or love, or want to see drunk). The more the merrier. Call me if you need to, 212-995- 1113. Thanks, Zev Gilad

Rico
8:00PM – 3:00AM Also, Rico is hosting another weekly Wednesday Astrid requests your presence (she’s working there now) at 8pm at a new chillout in the East Village called Rico. Come early to eat good food. Brought to you by Zen who was instrumental at our last Electric Circus event. Zen’s ancestors ran a pirate seaside bar hangout across the bay from San Juan. 505-5757 153 Ave C b/w 9&10 Free
Arrrgh! Still trying to get the bridge party going…. PS Atmos was at Rico last night!!! Wow… I know you guys want to hear trance in an outdoor environment in Manhattan. We are pitifully close to raising enough money to do it. Every little bit will help. And we will do this again and again and again. Until then, we wander in a house/techno wasteland and pay club/party promoters for the privilege of being robbed. Bottom line, DMT will bring you free trance for anyone who needs it most, and weekly spiritual sustenance for all. Instructions on how to help us achieve our trance dream.

SubtleChaos at Frying Pan
This an update & for this Friday’s party at Frying Pan. If you haven’t been there yet, you will be amazed this space is the best location in Manhattan for Halloween party, we are making the most of it. The sound system is already installed reinforcing house system on the pier by set of four subs, full-on mids, two racks of amps and effects! The boat’s inside is too loud, we might have to keep the volume down so you don’t damage your hearing. Wear ear-plugs. The most of Frying Pan pier is being sealed by huge tent with heater inside, the space lit by many blacklight and video projectors. Our design artist Daniel is working on preparing special backdrops and 3-D sculptures especially for this event, this is in addition to amazing artwork by Severyn. The line-up as described previously will remain same, however main floor in the tent on top of the pier will be fully psychedelic starting from TINKER live (New York’s own trance band, highly psychedelic and full of energy beautiful sound!!!) with five band members totally live on stage with guitars, drummer plus groovebox and DJ!!! from 12am following their warm-up (or guest DJ) SubtleChaos DJ set by Jason and Vadim four decks and CDJs, we will take over the pier after TINKER starting 2am until it’s sunrise. At same time inside the boat you will be able to hear some of the best in techno and drum and base. Throb’s DJ Prozac and DJ Chrome of Blackkat will have you grooving to their sets, it’s a Halloween freak party. We hope to welcome all friends of Blackkat and techno heads from around the city. You will have a chance to hear and see some of the coolest underground DJs. Sometime just after or before sunrise, we will all join together for the last DJ set from the special guest (T.B.A.) This is pretty much all we have for an update right now, we still have lots of stuff to do, mainly decoration and lighting setups, additional DJ bookings for chill-out (the boat has a small chill-out) and other stuff. Let your friends know and of course, bring your granny!!!

5 Tue, 31 Oct Fwd: WEDNESDAY at OPIUM DEN 29EAST AND 3 STREET at 2ND AVE. new member of list – chilean trance beauty DJ
6 Tue, 31 Oct EYE have a dREAM We had a dream of us having a generator so that we can have a bridge party at the drop of a hat. We got it. Took a month. We had a dream of having our own monster truck speakers so that we can have a beautiful, powerful sound whenever we want it. We got it. Took two months. Now, imagine us having our own bus so that whenever we want to hit the road and drive out to the woods, we can. Like a rocket reaching escape velocity, we can take a class field trip wherever… to Philly, Boston, Long Island, Burning Man, Canada, HOT Catskill parties, IKEA, North Carolina wherever wherever wherever with no boundaries. Because we are all pedestrians here, a bus would mean more in NYC that it would anywhere else. Then after that, imagine us buying a barn somewhere in some wilderness where we can build a compound and stock it full of guns, canned goods, and Ted Nugent eight tracks. And young women. Well, scratch that last part.

A blackness that cuts you off from the everyday world, forcing you to draw deep into yourself, a blackness that makes you see with your heart instead of your eyes. You can’t see, but your eyes seem open. You are isolated, but you know you are united with all living things. And out of darkness comes the roaring of the drums, the sound of the prayers. And among these sounds your ears catch the voices of the spirits, ghostlike, whispering to you from unseen lips. You feel the wings of birds brushing your face; feel the light touch of a feather on your skin.

Bridge Party – The Great Horned Mushroom Goddess
After your adventures on Friday, come join us under the bridge. We will start at midnight Friday and go until noon Saturday, longer if we have at l east 150 people. Bring a $15 donation. Samhain Samadhi Trance, the Key to Peace in the Middle East a d Citizen Outreach and Revival As we venture from All Saint’s Day and Los Dios Des Muertos, we enter a new phase as Ga ia turns away from Apollo. Let us celebrate the Great Horned Mushroom Goddess on these New World plains and reclaim the geometric Matrix grid of the understreets for the dancing fire circles of our ancestors. We welcome the African Shaman who has made a pilgrimage from Texas to enlighten us in the ways of advanced trance dance. Practitioners of all colors will converge into a throbbing undulating pulsing mass of trance energy. For TRANCE is the answer to cutting the Gordian knot of age-old hostility in the Middle East. Only through communal trance dance and shamanic ritual can we turn back the clock of war and hate. Only through going back to the last same moment we ever knew 96 rocked in the cradle of the Great Horned Mushroom Goddess on the plains of Africa 15,000 years ago – before warfare before standing armies before slavery and property. Only then we can deconstruct the patriarchy that is Monotheism, and the latter-day viruses that include Judaism and Islam. And Christianity and Hindu, Buddhism and all the 96isms that divide us. Without the psychedelic experience, we wander in a desert of bogus ideologies. Here in the media meme capital of the world, We Can Make a Difference. Policy Change There will never be talk, again, on this list, concerning outlaw bridge parties or d trance services. Basically, events where there is no security present. Someone sent the last message to Lev Markov, who sent it to NYC Raves. The results were less than spectacular. Anyone caught forwarding these emails out to rave email groups will be forever banned. There are just too many sketchy ravers out there who only give lip service to Peace Love Unity respect. And to the others, I will not be your free entertainment guide. It’s time to pay up or shut up. Also, someone brought someone who had a gun on them. Although no one was hurt, we don’t have to live like this and owe no one anything. So in the future, if you want any information, even a hint, you’ll have to join the d list. There will be no leaks and no cheating. This is to promote both the safety and longevity of our group. Thank you.

Winter housing from Rocktheshow
(and when he says AMT he means amount not the tryptamine 🙂 ) If enough of you respond we will all kick in and make this a winter home away from home – and make it psyberdelic) Was thinking of getting a house in the Poconos probably near Shawnee/Camelback mountain for the winter like dec-apr….I don’t have too many (Read: Any ) friends that want to chip in with me, nice houses are pretty cheap there for the winter someone I knew got a nice 3br for under $3000…anyway Since I won’t be able to afford the whole thing + I want to party etc. was thinking of making it the “DMTski Lodge” or something like that….. that area is only about 80miles from NYC…..I could hopefully scrounge together the full amount for the place and then would accept donations/barter/etc. from anyone who wanted to stay was thinking you could send out an e-mail to brainmachines…or maybe just the DMT list …. maybe a few people would want to chip in a decent amt and stay down there a lot or if not too many do that I could send out letters telling people to come visit it during various times in the winter and take whatever they’ll give but not demand very much or even anything at all….what do you think of such an idea…I figure I’ll have to nail down a few choices of the place i.e. have a few picked out and there exact amounts etc. before I or you post anything to the list….hell if there’s enough interest perhaps we can get something big and set back in the woods a bit where we could throw parties at……..let me know about any thoughts…..

Korova Milk Bar
First DJ Set: Icycoil (But pretty sure she played early DMT bridge)
Has anybody been to this? Synergy Wednesdays at: THE KOROVA MILK BAR (200 Ave. A btwn 12th & 13th st., NYC) DJ Icycoil spins: Mellow (early), Progressive (mid) & Psychedelic (late) Trance 10P-4A, 21 + puuuulease! $2 Domestic bottles/tap, $1 Kamikazee shots Come try the yummy molokos and martinis! For those of you who have never been to or heard of the Korova Milk Bar: – It is designed after the bar Alex and his crew are tripping out at in the beginning of the movie “A Clockwork Orange” (Yes it has the naked mannequins. No they do not squirt milk out of their nipples…though it would be pretty cool if they did!) – Along with the usual stuff, they have exotic drinks, such as molokos (frozen alcoholic milkshake drinks), and martinis named after dead gangsters.-There are about 15 TV screens throughout the bar showing bizarre, tripped out sci-fi movies and anime. -A kicking sound system, although it looks shitty and we try not to pump it up too damn loud so you guys can actually converse. Afterall, Korova is a BAR, not a club. Hope to see you there! -Merry

MTV had Astrid at 5th Element on for a flash when they were talking about the new hippies. I was on for 10 seconds, talking about these stupid young candy ravers with their pacifiers – that there is another deeper element of computer people, doctors, scientists, artists – first in my apartment and then voiceovered with footage of me at Tsunami at VINYL. It’s very quick and thank god for my job that I was wearing sunglasses.
Also featured was a swiss-cheese-brain-on-an-MRI segment about someone I had met in NYC clubland named Lynn Smith. She laid it all out on the show. She is typical of the people I have met at Twilo – one time, on my way out of that tourist trap I ran into a short Asian E dealer who was a weekly regular was in a fetal position near the coat check. He called to me and I came over. Somebody had given him acid and he had never taken it before. He was crying and completely lost. It was as if all the bullshit that had piled up was being released and he couldn’t deal…
..but at least he only has to wait 15 minutes TOPS at Twilo to get in

This looks to be weird enough to go. Keep in mind, it’s Tsuyoshi plus at least one techno DJ warming up. It feels like 1997 all over again. Does anybody remember the Matsuri parties down on the Shore? I wonder if John Emmanuel books him still? With promoters like label founder Mao and local der Jack at Gatien’s clubs, are we seeing a psytrance megaclub minirevival? Did the departure of Dalit create a void? Or an abyss? as for me I’ll be gazing into it…

Directions to SS from Karma Well, the talk was favoring east village. The bad news is that the quickest way to SS the E train stop at W4th, we’ll have to take the F at 2nd ave and Houston. Which is only 5 blocks from Karma. The good news is, we’ll have a big crowd of people taking the subway together.

Gnaoua
The term Gnaoua refers to a community that includes master musicians (Maalem), ourageb players, mystical psychics and therapists. They combine harmoniously, cultural roots from black Africa and mysticism from Islam. The rites of possession are in the centre of multiple spiritual and physical activities. This is called derdeba, and takes place at night (lila), that is why it’s called Lila of Derdeba. During the ceremony the master musician invites the Saints and supernatural entities to possess his adepts. Once inhabited by the spirits the partakers fall into a trance until reaching ecstasy and beyond.
Issawa (the secret to be revealed)
Blue People of The Sahara
The Guedra. A trance ritual executed by staccato movements of the hands and fingers, and smooth gliding back and fourth. “Entering a state of trance they dropped to their knees, fingers and hands in constant motion, heads swinging t and fro, faster and faster, back and forth,…they collapsed in a heap followed by blackout” -focusmm.com
Dekka of Marrakech
Instruments: Karaksh & Claxons. Simple somewhat solemn rhythms start the ritual. Beats accelerate with low and high pitched sounds mingling. As voices rise in a powerful chorus, long claxons join in. The rhythms change several times without a break., at times reaching peaks, giving us the notion of disciplined outbursts of ecstasy.

How to do an Astrid Projection NYE party for $5 1. Go get GIFs of Astral Projection’s faces on one of the trance sites 2. Print out, Cut out, make masks 3. Set up a card table outside a trance venue 4. Get a couple of friends, wear masks, bob up and down behind your computer terminal doing the Israeli shuffle, occasionally fiddling with the volume button whenever the melodies start really pumpin’ in 5. Start with Also Sprach Zarathustra, the 2001 theme song, and stream Astral Projection tracks from MP3, throwing pennies in a big jar for every track you play (helps trim streaming costs) 6. Borrow a pixel projector and put up images of Astrid 7. Remove any Columbia psych students who complain that you’re just projecting about an Astrid obsession 8. Invite friends. Solicit pennies. 9. Right when the “Spice is Life” track comes on, smoke some kitchen sink d out of a crack pipe 10. Find out what you cheerfully have assumed that you could never figure out and get a peep into the other side BUM WANKER!
